I like shugo's answer, I think that confidence is the key.

....though too much of it just results in noobness - a balance must be struck.

sounds good. that and perhaps check out some popular/legendary series such as eva, cowboy bebop, etc. start watching more fansubs and more anime besides the popular stuff.

the anime community isn't much like other's where there's a way to be leet or noob. there isn't much any elitism and such. it's pretty chill like that (which is part of why i love it). the only real apparent thing i can think of is to get out of the closed world of DBZ and all that.

Personally I dont think people should be seperated by status cuz isnt it better to get more people interested in Fan subs? Because usally watching a dubbed anime in north america is CRAP there for people wouldn't like it but they may like the fan subs and then we get a growing fan base?!?! eh eh eh and if that didnt make sense sorry I'm watching tv and typing right now...

agreed. i like the chill, status-less way the anime community is right now and i wouldn't want that to change. i like it pretty much just the way things are right now :]

Easy, your no longer a noob if you start spelling right, making sense, and have a good reputation...... That's just my opinion though.
