In the 21st century, a family of vampires settled down on the grounds of Japan and lived a modest life whilst sucking on the blood of humans discreetly. However, the eldest daughter of the family, Karin Maaka, has an embarassing secret which cannot be revealed to anyone. Even though she is a vampire, she does not lack blood like her family members. Instead, she overproduces blood to the extent that she transfuses the excess into her victims, hence increasing their blood levels. Despite her troubling body characteristic, she attends school like any other high school student, that is until a new transfer student, Kenta Usui, enters her life.

Yet another vampire anime with its own unique story line and feel, Karin is wonderful to watch and can be enjoyed by all. There is plenty of plot and character development, the music is fitting and the animation style, while not the best, is still very nicely done. The show features a lot of mixed themes such as comedy, drama, love and action, all intertwined together. However, the writers did a good job of making sure that no one individual theme was more dominant than the others, and instead found a good balance while progressing the story. They also took their time with the development of the story which made it move at a comfortable pace, until the end when everything was wrapped up within a few episodes and seemed rather rushed. While this show is only 24 episodes long, the ending sequences could have been stretched two more episodes (for a total of 26) in order to allow deeper development, more background and an overall better feel. Despite this, the show did have a happy ending, which I liked and felt was appropriate.

I liked this one, it was pretty funny. Especially with the grandma, and the weird parents^^

Though I do say that Usui Kenta didn't really fit in for me... He just looks out of place. He looks more like a proper supporting character of the main male protagonist... I dunno, but even though the art was a little awkward at times, the story was pretty interesting in general.

I snerked when Karin gave her brother the lubricant. The ending was kinda WTF and rushed, and Karin's boobs have the consistency of jelly. I like the rest of the characters though, and her parents are hilarious.
