My husband owns a 12 gauge and a single shot shotgun. Plus a couple muzzle loaders, among a few other rifles (including three 22's).
I own a Beretta 380 handgun.
And these are our newest toys - just bought this month:
Bushmaster AR15 and a Remington 770 SPS (270 caliber).

The AR15 has almost no kick to it - I absolutely love firing that gun. The 270 on the other hand kicks pretty bad, and can give a nice bruise if you don't hold it tight enough (not my type of gun).

That 270 looks absolutely beautiful, where did you get it? A 270 is pretty good for all around hunting, fact. Maybe you should get a nice recoil pad, I recommend Limbsaver. Reviews say that they reduce recoil, a lot. By 70% if you get the Recoil Pad Slip-On.

I think the 270 was from Greentop Sporting Goods (Virginia). They used to be "the place" to get any hunting or fishing equipment in the Richmond, VA area, until the commercial businesses started moving in (like Gander Mountain and Bass Pro Shop).
The AR15 was from Gander Mountain.

I tried to talk my husband into a better recoil pad, but he said I am such a girl (which then I was like, thanks for the observation); he said he had no problems this go around at the range. He just wore an extra sweatshirt and this time we had a gun rest, which actually helped a ton.
