Agreed completely. The PSP should have destroyed the NDS, except Sony has this mad philosophy that people want to buy a MEDIA device, instead of a hand held gaming device. Sony would have been better off cutting a lot of the crap and making it a price-comparable competitor. They didn't spend enough time getting the developers into it.

And they didn't add a second analog... The PSP would have been five times cooler with a second analog stick.

This whole "diffusion" of gaming devices into media device is what is screwing all the other industry players. Nintendo is kicking serious ass for the fact that they're putting out cheap devices that play JUST games. Should have just stuck with DVD player and be done with all the other features.

The analog stick thats on there is already a piece of shit.
PSP games suck. The controls are insanely clunky.
The PSP is a handheld device and therefore the genres it can play effectively are limited.
RPGs-Your traveling and you reached your destination and now you have to turn off your PSP...OH FUCK NO SAVE POINT!!!
Shooters- no fucking second analog stick I can't look around.
RTS-HAHHAHAHAHA yeah right.
Sports-lets not kid ourselves...if your outside in a park playing basketball on your PSP instead of playing it for real there is something wrong.
Puzzle- puzzle games don't even need to be on the PSP. You could have played lumines on the fucking NGage or Neogeo.
Fighting games- These actually work, but fighting games in general get boring after a while.
Platformer-So far the platformer games have been EXACTLY the same as the PS2 counterparts.
PSP homebrew-Unless your playing old school games which you can do with pretty much any system, the controls just plain suck.
Other problems- PSP is insanely expensive, the battery life is laughable, it's extremely fragile, and it doesn't fit in your pocket all that well.

I can argue with some of your points.
Not all RPGs need to have a specific save point.
Shooters..ehh they don't really work on the PSP...but then again, do they work on the DS?
RTS, Not familiar with these types of games on a PSP so I cant comment on it.
Why do Sport games even exist? You play them indoors when its raining or too cold to go outside and play the actual sport itself.
Who the hell wants a NGage? or a NeoGeo or w/e that is. Puzzle games are quite fun actually and will entertain you for a looong time if you're bored enough.
Fighting games don't get boring if you play with some friends.
Platform games exist? for a PSP

Okay some people just like the classics and want to play them. This is a handheld system after all, Its not like we're all going to be carrying around televisions and joysticks when we go places.

The price may be alot, but thats how almost all Sony products are, just look at the PS3. But thats the price we pay for good quality stuff (i.e. way better graphics, media enabled, versatility, etc..)

Seriously, whos going to play with a PSP 4-6 hours straight?

I would say the DS is more fragile: An "Accident" could snap the top part off, you could press on the screens with the stylus too hard.

Comparing the original DS to the original PSP, the PSP would win. Have you seen the size of the DS? its bulky! But now that the PSP slim came out, I would say that its on par with the DS lite

The DS is better in my opinion! The DS just has better games! yes the PSP can play video, music, and surf the web. but so can the DS, even though it comes separately. DS more interactive games such as big brain academy, mariokart, metriod. And WI-FI makes it even more fun!!! though I must get a PSP soon because God of War: chains of olympus is coming out!!!XD

NDS ftw!
I don't actually have a PSP, so I can't really say, but I've played a friend's, and I don't think it's all that. And between the PSP and the DS, I was meh when the PSP came out, but I was salvitating for the DS.
Some people mentioned it, but it's VERY possible to browse the web with the DS.
AND you can listen to music, watch movies, play homebrew, etc on the DS.
It's really simple, and there's a bazillion flash carts out there nowadays.
R4DS, M3 Simply, G6, DS Extreme, NinjaPass, blah blah.
This is going on too long.

Shooters works great on the DS. have you heard of Metroid Prime Hunters. The best shooter for the DS.

I have both the DS and PSP and i prefer my PSP just because it has games i like better (though half of those games are in japanese) and I can play gameboy advance games on it too =) . Plus i'm not really all that amazed about the whole touch screen, was never fond of the DS.

All the RPGs without save points just plain suck.
The Legend of Heroes......
If your inside while its raining and you want to play a sports game why are you playing a sports game on a handheld system. There is a fucking Xbox 360 crying because your playing NBA street on your PSP instead of playing it on the obviously superior non hand held system.
Fighting games do get boring after a while because its like playing rock paper scissors consecutively.
How many car rides have your parents taken you on?
That is fucking horrible. Sitting in the car for hours and you only have 4 hours on your PSP.
Trust me. The PSP is more fragile. The top part won't break off if you have it closed.
The PSP's screen is completely vulnerable to scratches so you can't really put it in your backpack at school. The tray for the UMD discs is EXTREMELY fragile. Pop it open and give it a tiny tug and you can feel it ripping apart.
The battery hatch is exposed and not firmly sealed with a screw. I don't know how many times the analog fell off and I had to steal the analog from my local target...I mean.....

Man u couldn't be more one-sided on this topic...Ds sells cause it appeals to ages..eventhough it only has one anlog stick..it helps alot in its gaming( u must suck at shooting games if u need to 2 anlogs cause one is more then enough)..and the PSP can be placed on standby most of the time which will not waste electricity in that mode and puts the game on pause...basiclly there is never a need to off it.. and the battery last longer then DS so FTW cause PSP has way better graphics..Oh and it fits perfcetly fine in ones pocket and it is slimmer then the DS with its new Slim PSP and its screen cannot be scratched or damaged....But I am not saying the DS sux.. ok Its a great gaming console with its dual screen function and old skool games and even Final fantasy and the up and coming kingdom hearts title.. so please look at both ends before posting...

DS sells because it owns the failure called PSP. The analog stick is next to useless. It breaks off way too easily. I laughed at many friends who got angry cause the analog broke within a month of purchasing the PSP. And FPS with a D-pad is just dumb. It was like playing Zelda OoT on a emulator. Shooting arrows/slingshots was a bitch. Just cause its slim doesn't mean its not wide and lengthy as hell. Making it slim only accomplished the fact that your pants dont have a huge bulged in it. Althought the new silver color is quite appealing. And the PSP is a scratch magnet. Thats the truth. So it the DS when stupid people are handling it. So thats even both ways.

If i wanted something that plays videos, musics, pictures and gets online, I'd rather get an Archos.

Oh did I mention... PSP games sucks?
