i actually visited a blind school once. didn't get to talk about this though :(

i read about the possibility of "hereditary" memories. studies show that some people born blind dream of things that we see in our daily lives, or at least similar visual images, but that could be the blind person's imagination of what other people describe to them. still, the fact that they can imagine visual things may help prove that one does not need to be able to see something first to visualize.

Do blind people dream? Everyone knows that when blind people go to sleep they just die for the night.

if they can feel then they could probably dream of black shapes.

Hmmm... I'd guess they dream more in shapes then in actual sights... They don't know what colors are, but they know the general shape of objects if they've touched them. You know, kinda like a game without textures.

Yes.
Everyone dreams (thanks Bandits_King); dreams are an important part of the mechanism for laying down new memories.
Additionally, a condition among blind people exists in which they hallucinate (more common among those with extensive "blind spots", rather than complete blindness). This shows that the blind can "see" within their blind area. Some blind people "see" things which appear more vivid than real life, though they cannot see any of real life at all. This supports the idea that the blind can visually dream.
Returning to the fact that we all dream (pass through Rapid Eye Movement sleep); the blind must dream, however they may only dream aurally, or with all senses but sight intact.
A study to test this would require blind patients who claim to have not dreamed throughout thier life. They would then sleep in a laboratory with an EEG attached (to show brain waves). When they enter REM sleep for the longest period (at the end of the night) they could be woken up half way through, at which point most people are able to relate exactly the occurences in their current dream.

of course blind people dream when they sleep, just like i do. they just don't have visions, only sound, motion and feelings.

dreams are based on our conceptions of the world, how we perceive things, things that happened during the day, so the dreams they have would be based on the same thing, but due to thier preception the dreams would be diff. As for black and white or color people dream in black and white

I think it depends were they blind when they were born, or they got that problem recently.
If they have been blind ever sense they were born then i think that they can imagine things that they have touched or something!
And if the got blind recently then they still remember the shape and color of the thing they have seen! That's my opinion at least!

Dreams are nothing but your brain being stubborn and refusing to sleep so a blind man would dream about the world as he percieves it, whatever he thinks the people are like or whatever they are colored like and just to make it clear I dont kinda get it when someone went "they dream in black and white " They are completely blind, not color blind

P.S I am so donating my eyes when I die and you guyz shud do the same

I agree. A blind mans dreams if viewed by normal people would be in no way understandable. But, since a blind man would dream, he would see things as he imagines them. So where people look like people in our dreams he just might see floaty orbs, or a rubber ducky, not that he would know what a rubber duckie is but I think for the most part my point is clear.
