heres food for thought rather dream, in these last past 2 generations alone is the first to witness color in their dreams. all known before was just black and white. as for the blind it is belived that they do see the world just diffrently. not just sounds. everybody has an imagination it just takes more for the blind becuse they have no basis. or little i should say. i have not actually talked to a blind person myself but it would be worth asking.

I beleive that a blind person who was born blind, dreams of the world as he perceives it, for example, say you're chatting with someone on the net, you may have absolutely no idea what this person looks like, of course this doesn't keep you from guessing or thinking of what the person looks like, so using the very few clues you have you come up with a mental image of the person.

I heard from my mom that if they didn't start out blind, they dream in the images like we do. However, if they are born blind, they dream in like flashes of feelings and sensations and sounds.

And you would be correct. When someone is blind from birth, they still dream.. But the dreams are experienced through all other senses besides sight. Though, they may still see flashes of light like you said. Smell, sound, touch, and taste are all hightened (in comparison to a normal dream).

People who were not born blind, but have become blind, usually dream as non-blind dreamers do.

Yes, everyone dreams. Roughly 4 dreams every night. *did his homework* I've studied lucid dreaming (a hobby of mine) and while I'm not so great at it, I can confirm that you can smell, touch, and taste in a dream. For those that may have their doubts.

If anyone is interested in Lucid dreaming (and I highly recommend it (it's a great experience)) then I'm sure you can google it and find all sorts of related articles. Also feel free to PM me if you have any questions! I'd love to help anyone that needs it.

Corse a blind man can dream. Being blind only means that you can't see throught your eyes. If you close your eyes and conjour up an image, it's not coming through your eyes, it's coming from your brain. So, yes, in my oppinion, I belive a blind man can dream.

^ but how do they conjure up an image when they never actually seen anything in their lives? (only applicable to people born blind, not people who lost their sight over the years.)

if they were blind at birth. probably its just a sound but if they got blind in the middle of their life.. of course they still have the ability to dream with a picture.

dreaming, has more to do with the imagination mental process rather than pictorial reflection.

blind people would be able to dream though i think there dreams would be a bit more surreal than ours because there imagination is limited to what others describe to them and how it was described.
