you like gorillaz too? im very in on there songs right night. especially el manana. hehe even tough its way old. i just heard it yesterday. hehe and began my fascination on its real meaning.
but it is something serious. to me atleast.
its like the houses and the background represents us. our freedom. the helicopter is the "corporation" it shows how they manipulate our freedom. if we go against them.. they will destroy us. kinda like the ongoing war in iraq now. those were free people.. but they were atack.. not because of terrorists reason.. no.. its just a scapegoat for the real reason.

very interesting. I agree with the helicopter meaning corporations that are trying to manipulate us though..But the grim reaper being taken away kind of scares me because that sort've gives the impression that whatever these corporations are trying to do will lead to death. It's as if the helicopter [corporation] is bringing the grim reaper [death] closer to us.

Btw, I've liked gorillaz for years. El manana is one of my favorites but I still love feel good inc..that song made me first begin liking the band.

Anime Character Designs

The human body is what influenced the body proportions of most anime characters. The head is the base unit of proportion. Most anime characters are 7-8 heads tall and some reach up to 9 heads.
examples of body proportions

Chibi characters are an exception though. Chibi characters body parts are shortened, except for the head that actually gets bigger, for emphasism on the situation that they are drawn in. Chibis are usually 2-4 heads tall. Most of the time, chibi characters are made this way to exaggerate an emotion.
example
hai hai they are cute and adorable -_-;

The large anime eyes are exaggerated forms of cartoon characters such as Betty Boop and Mickey Mouse. Large eyes allow the anime character to show more emotions. [Osamu Tezuka is one of the first mangaka's to use large eyes in his work.] The eyes are given different colors [most of the time, the colors are different from realistic eye colors.] And they are darkened in the cornea to add depth.
example of large eyes

Although large eyes is greatly used in anime, it is not the ONLY form. Some anime characters are known for having small eyes and seeming more realistic. The smaller eyes tend to resemble traditional Japanese art.

And both side by side

other examples

Facial expressions are ued to give insight on the characters mood and thoughts. Anime uses different facial expressions than other areas in the world. Face faults, stressmark/bloodynose/sweatdrop effects really put empasism on the emotion that is expressed through them. [check back on previous lesson for definitions]
some normal facial espressons

hehe thanks minna-san. I am working hard to make your lessons short and to the point and still be interesting so you all learn and remember all this. I will try to go more in depth with the human body since everyone wants to learn how to draw the bodies ^^;; Hopefully I won't get in trouble for posting images like these [but it is art, and art has nudity]..haha theres no ecchiness in wanting to learn how to draw a human ^^; If you guys want to learn something specific, don't hesitate to leave a post and I will try my best to make the lessons about those things. Thank you again everyone for coming to art class ^^ Please keep coming since I am always updating. yoroshiku!
