and that is why i don't read or watch shoujo :)
besides the fact that it bores me to sleep in about 5 mins

some shoujo have strong girls while some are weak..
i guess it depends on the story xD

In the common shoujo manga, the girls are just plain annoying.

1 - too nice, too good. No self wishes. Cares about other people too much.
2 - Tsundere.
3 - A pretty bitch.
4 - Evil, but lovey dovey around the guy that they have affections for.
5 - Shy girl in the corner.
6 - Nerdy, sweet, shy.
7 - Crybaby.
8 - Emo kid.

I like strong heroines in shojo manga or the apathetic type, mainly because their less annoying or because they can survive without guys having to come to the rescue all the time.

You got that right, that's why sometimes I hate and bored to read shoujo mangas
and they cry baby too, it makes me sick! expecially jealous antagonists (why is it always because of a guy )
I prefer friendship or protagonist with unique character than that

This. I seriously dislike how girls are portrayed like this, like seriously? *I* am ten times stronger and more competent than any of these girls who are entrusted with "saving the world." Seriously wth.

(But I like my fluffy shoujo once in a while lol)

I've been wondering about that. Do girls really like those pushy kind of douchebags that feature so prominently in shoujo manga? There are only like two kinds of male interests in the entire genre. Actually, I find you'll almost certainly have these two archetypes in any given shoujo manga.

1) The stoic elite prince type who will always be a condescending asshole, and generally be an ass towards the main girl mostly by insulting or ignoring her. For example, the main dark haired brat from Gakuen Alice. They're usually black haired actually. Black or white haired.

2) The rascally scoundrel type who will play pranks on the leading lady, tease her, generally make her life hell. Will generally be implied to be promiscuous, or "perverted", and will probably engage in interactions with our heroine that normal people would call sexual harassment.

It's always the same. One or both of the above will be total jerks to the leading lady, push her around, make fun of her, but then save her life on accident or something, then she's in love with them. Following her rescue, they may say that she's indebted to them now, or that she has found out their secret or something so they'll kill her if she disobeys them or something like that. She doesn't mind though, because they're so handsome and strong.

I think it's rooted in the tradition of those trashy romance novels that you get at the corner store. You know, that always have those suave Casanova types who whisk the fair maidens away despite their protesting, because really, deep down, they want it.

Do girls really want that? I mean, if I were a girl, I don't think I would.

Ah! I was so busy complaining that I wasn't able to say something positive. If you want to read a manga with a GOOD female lead, read Kimi no Todoke. Yes, she's a "weak" character, but this manga is an example of how you can have a "weak" female lead, who can actually have you know.. a non abusive relationship with the male lead. There's a respect between the two leads that actually looks like something VAGUELY resembling friendship, unlike most other shoujo stuff, where the relationship is basically antagonism.
