supersuggs wrote: well japanese girls are for the most part (not all, just a lot) are pushovers just like your hated heroines. There was a class of japanese kids that come to my school on an exchange and all the girls were as quite and meek as you could possibly get... youd ask them a question and theyd just stare at the ground and mumble their answer. Though im proud to say that 1 of the girls by the end of the their trip had become outgoing :) I dunno about that. I think that might be too broad of a generalization. They were probably just quiet because they were foreign exchange students. It's tough integrating into a different culture, which is why when you first move, you probably don't want to risk too much by being too outgoing and loud. Yeah, the guys were probably just as quiet as the girls I bet. They were probably a little more lively when talking amongst themselves right? |

Being stupid doesn't bother me. But most shoujo anime/manga heroines are pathetic. But I do love Fuuko from Anti-Gravity Boy! She's just perfect! :3

I can't stand shoujo manga. The female leads are unrealistically stupid and weak. They just whimper and cry their way through the storyline. It makes me nauseous.
Some shoujo manga though are really good! Red River is my favorite too.It is a must read. I love Ouran too of course and I also really like Marmalade Boy. They all have strong believable female characters. |

shoujo mangas usually potray girls as someone who is weak and vulnerable and often times STUPID!!and that's why sometimes I get annoyed because all the female leads do is cry.

She was already a bookworm in part1 with monstrous strength but she was still so naive and stupid! She's always Sasuke this and that, I really pity Naruto from all her rage and abuses! Naruto almost died saving her big-ass forehead from Gaara and all she thanked was Sasuke, and when he told her it was Naurto who saved her, the bitch even managed a giggle and didnt believe him until he insisted it was true. She was sooo shoujo the time Sasuke was about to leave Konoha. Ugh! Damn I hated her there so much! She's okay in Shippuden. I may have forgiven her a little, but the things she did to Naruto (as stupid and nice as he is) are never forgotten. Ur still in my black book Haruno! i total agree with u ma that girl i just want to punch her also when she said that fools in love with me ((to sai abut)) naruto )))) it was like what the hell is with that girl dam her man that guy loves her so much and she on top of that says such things jus t wanted tooo man dam that i think she shoud just go away and let naruto live hapily ever after with anone but not that girl |

they're all weak, shy and supposedly innocent
I mean being innocent is ok but shoujo manga girls just got to the point where they became idiotic and first love at 15/in high school? I'm pretty sure almost everyone had one in kindergarten or something, and they make it like they MUST get a boyfriend in high school or else they'll die of loneliness, that's just stupid kallastra wrote: Red River is my favorite too.It is a must read. Shoujo is written for teenaged girls, who tend to be insecure and like the idea that even if they are weak, a strong man could still fall for them. Hence the heroines tend to be weak, or at least flawed.
Conversely, in shounen manga (targeted at teenaged boys) you are more likely to see a strong tsundere girl fall for a weak or flawed hero. (Shounen manga written by female mangaka are more likely to have heroines who are strong but not crazy.) For a broader range of stories you might check out josei and seinen manga, which are written for an older audience (female and male respectively.) |

That's why I don't really read much or Shoujo, or I'm picky about them. A herione that always needs help is so stupid. They need to learn some independence, or they're so stupid they don't have common sense.

Yeah you're right! almost all the girls in shoujo mangas are always weak and depends on the guy. it's the typical way I guess. but of course, there's one manga I read recommended by a friend that I REALLY liked. Beauty Pop! at least the main girl isn't always weak and all that. you might actually enjoy it if you're tired of mangas where the girl is always weak. Trust me, you'll like Beauty Pop. (=

Most of them are weak... And its really frusterating when they believe everything they hear *-*; And then they get kidnapped or something.. Oh my god and they kinda cry about everything. Like when they're happy, when they're sad (duuuh) etc. etc. ETC.

wow, fantastic baby

Yeah, most of the time they are just stupidly naive and over-emotional. Especially a lot of new shoujo that is coming out lately. There are, however, exceptions to every case. Like a lot of people mentioned there is red river, ouran, beauty pop, kirai etc. I guess when it comes down to it, it all depends on the mangaka you choose to read from
