I'm officially DONE with B.E.T.

I don't have the patience to watch anymore of these wack fuckin videos.

I've never been so pissed at a fuckin television channel in my life.

Cunninglynguists - The Park. You need to relax. Fuck these half-assed, half-wack rappers and just ease your mind with some real shit. I personally prefer writing my own shit but you never know when inspiration is around the corner.

The stuff you hear on the radio is just pure shit. And they play those songs over and over and over. the only time you might hear some good manistream music is like after 7 or 8 at night. When I say good mainstream i mean crossover hip hop ex: the lox, lupe, mr west, common, nas, jay- z, cassidy, beanie sigel, 2 pac, BIG, UGK, juvey, game etc. These are all mainstream rappers but are great at what they do. The radio does not music like theirs enough or even at all. So i guess you could say I'm mad at the radio stations.Sometimes I'm a little disappointed in some of the stuff good mainstream has given me. But with underground music Immortal technique, little brother, jedi mind tricks, non phixion, canibus, punchline and wordsworth, copywrite, mr. lif, planet asia, afu-ra, i'm never disappointed with them.

- I hope you all get my point

Nowadays most mainstream songs are just rappers that made it by having 1 good song & now they think they can just rap about bull shit & getting money & having girls & wearing expensive shit & having $500,000 rides, While real emcees are rapping about real shit & stuff that can happen to a real person, anyone that has a dream. I have a quote from somebody but I can't find it, if I do, I'll make sure to post it on here.

I was having a "friendly debate" with a friend a few days back
we were talking about why Lil Wayne is considered a good rapper

so we started touching on the issue of wat Rap is today
and the final statement was that in order to get rich and get their music liked,
rappers must rap about having tons of cash, rolling in a 30 million dollar ride, being
a player and being able to get tons of girls, having tons of bling, and finally just simply being
better than you and everyone else in this world.

Why is that?
My friend insisted that "this is the new style of rap, ppl like this"
and i said "this isn't what hip hop was meant to be"
he said "how would u kno? maybe the people think hip hop should be this"
and i realized that he was right
but
this raises a problem

What has our world become where we as a society will rave about and pay millions to a rap song
thats about Being a Playa, Having Tons of Cash, Looking so Fly, Being Rich and Famous

I was watching the video to "Hip Hop Saved My Life" by Lupe Fiasco
and i looked at the view count
it was at 1,500,000
then i watched the "Whatever You Like" video by T.I and it was at 20,8900,000
views
A video about being rich and buying your girl whatever she wants got 15 million more views
than a video
about the story of an average joe that struggled hard and turned his life around.
not to mention T.I's vid was uploaded nearly 6 months later than Lupe Fiasco's
honestly
do you not see something wrong?

I found it, I quoted it from another forum & i think this is true to the world

Remember back in the day... (early 90s) it was a good thing to be mainstream. If u were a musicain & u made it on the radio or tv, you were considered to be GOOD..... times have changed & roles have reversed in hip hop. In mainstream the most marketable rappers are the 'best rappers'...

I was just thinking the other day on why people love mainstream so much & even why I can get mezmerized by it after a couple listens...

why do underground fans hate mainstream rappers?

We don't all hate radio & tv shit.............it's just the shit currently that's on radio & tv that we all hate right now. Back in the late 80s, all of the 90s and the early 2000s, shit on the radio & tv had great quality in terms of lyricism and mass appeal. In the current age, the stuff on radio & tv is nothing but mass appeal that is being influenced by BULLSHIT.

As for the underground shit, I'm 50/50 on that shit. Most of the time, they've obviously maintained some consistency in terms of lyricism, the ability to send a message across, and the ability to create an appeal. At the same time, there are underground emcees these days (such as Uncle Murda) that make absolute bullshit just so they can get their names out there.

I HATE MAINSTREAM RAPPERS CAUSE THEY RAP FOR THE MONEY AND NOT FROM THE HEART......
u just hear the difference !!!! FUCK MAINSTREAM

and what yall saying about Underground Rappers.... dont talk about them if u only know 1 or 2 underground artist!!!
cause u dont know jack....

Peace

Mainstream turned garbage after the Golden Age and when Eminem was declining in his career. Since then, it was all pop and club music. Mainstream is all money, no business. Ha.. calling them rappers is a joke, calling them the best rappers is an insult to those who have flourished in the subject. Underground, too crazy, too many. Back when Immortal Technique was pure underground (first time hearing him in around '03 or '04), he was SICK with it. I've learned his rhyming pattern after a while but it's still sick. There's a good variety of underground rap so I can't really say it's bad or good. It's just what you're into but if you wanna hear shit from the heart, I'll keep saying it until they're recognized, CunninLynguists. If you wanna hear about 'love', Tonedeff. Political view, Immortal Technique. Beast freestyles, The Saurus, Iron Solomon (mainstream freestyles, Jin, Cassidy, the Notorious B.I.G back in their days, not sure about Cass cause he's all over the place). I'm stuck on trip-hop and Golden Age rap for the time being. By the way, I don't know why but I've never hated on Ludacris for being mainstream (I guess cause I heard 'What's Your Fantasy' back a while ago for the first time). I gotta admit, he's got beats and some good punchlines for mainstream. I consider him a Joker if he were in a deck of cards.

Ludacris was severely underrated in my opinion throughout his career. He wasn't that good when he first came out with the "What's Your Fantasy" shit......but he definitely stepped up his lyrical game after he shaved off his 'fro LMAO. But in all honestly, Luda has been everywhere lyrically lately, he's just been severely underlooked 'cause of Wayne's overrated ass and TI's presence.

Relese Therapy was Luda's pivotal point, where his music changed some... He was a typical southern rapper. He is underrated but he has yet to really go into some really deep shit... maybe thats not his style, hes still amazing at what he does. But Relese Therapy is his realist album.... havent gotten to Theater of the Mind yet....

I always saw him as the type that wants to be pimp but at the same time be respected equally as a rapper. He is the typical rapper but there are a few really good punchlines I've heard from him. And seriously, he's the joker. He jokes while rapping and to me, it looks like he's having fun. As long as that's happening, I'll still give props to him cause it's hard to do a job that you like to do and enjoy doing.
