I searched for some earthbound related things here to see what I could find.
Since there's no major Earthbound thread here, I've started this one as a fan to spread the word.

If you are wondering what it is, it's basically a "modern" (well for its time it was modern) RPG.
Unlike the Final Fantasy series and the Dragon Warrior or Dragon Quest series and other similar games, Mother throws you into the role of a young boy in a modern world with telephones, bicycles, ect.
The quest is basically similar to most RPGs....a save the world game...
However, there is so much more to it than that.
You get to battle aliens, stray dogs, hippies, crows/ravens, zombies, and other strange enemies...With a baseball bat. Sound fun yet?

Mother Zero...Mother 2 and now Mother 3 ...also known as the Earthbound series.

Please check out starmen.net for tons of cool Earthbound related stuff and support the site if you like it by donating some money. If you love online radio, you should get foobar 2000 (trust me this is the best player to use for listening to Radio PSI...you may have difficulties if you use anything else such as WinAmp) and check out Radio PSI every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They even have a chat room and special contests.

I found a group here for the game but there's just us three (the creator...whom I haven't chatted with yet...another member I don't really know...and me...haha)
Please join if you find all the different earthbound related things interesting.

There are some Earthbound-related videos right here on crunchyroll.

I like this commercial, even though it's old it does give you
some idea of what the game is like.

Youtube has a lot of Earthbound-related videos.

Whorl, Just because something is old, doesn't always mean it's bad. Have you even given it a chance? It sounds like you haven't. Even though you're being negative, thanks for posting. Hahaha.

Thanks for posting Cain.

Sad that so far not many people here seem to care, I've seen a couple of people here and there say they love earthbound but they haven't even joined the club here or posted in this thread (yet...I'm hoping they will notice this eventually and post something)

Radio is on now.

I played part of Earthbound.
I must admit that I wasn't too big on the battle system. It's been a while since I played, so I'm afraid I can't narrow down what it was, but I just remember being like... "this isn't the kind of battle system that I like".
Still, the story seemed pretty cool, and I liked the idea of the game.
Perhaps, at some point, I shall return to it.

If you have opencanvas or whatever check out #opencanvas 'cause that's part of the show right now too
and http://www.ustream.tv/channel/radio-psi-with-dj-ozztastic if you're interested

thanks for posting all those who have posted, plan on posting or going to post, whatever

heh

Yeah, I think the battle system must take some getting used to for people that are used to "different" battle systems and prefer those...I play a lot of older games so to me there's not that much difference between, say, a final fantasy game or Earthbound battlewise.
Some people have a problem with the trippy backgrounds during battles but I think that's kind of another issue entirely...even a fan like me has things I am not that crazy about when it comes to certain issues with the game(s) but overall I really enjoy the games....yeah, the story is great ....
I'm multi-tasking now so if I stop making sense during any of my posts, sorry.
Heh.

(listening to radio, looking at other stuff when I'm not checking on this thread, looking at stuff in the chat channels...haha...)

I've only played Mother 3, and it's easily one of my favorite games. The music was excellent, and it has one of best storylines I've seen in an RPG. Not to mention it has quite a bit of comedy as well, which so many RPGs seem to be lacking. Man, I really need to play the first two. <<;;

The first one was basically a lesser version of Earthbound. Its not bad, but not really neccesary to play.
The main differences are some character stuff, i.e. Lloyd is kind of ridiculed for being a genius in Mother, and Jeff (who is essentially the Earthbound equivalent to Lloyd) is revered for his genius.

I think the very first one (zero) doesn't have much comedy in it but yeah the second one (Mother 2/Earthbound) has some funny stuff ...for example the idea of having to fight a pile of vomit or (if I remember this correctly) - Jeff's father mentioning that his son wets the bed.

yes you do fight a pile of vomit named master belch (or master barf at deep darkness), and jeffs father is dr. andonuts, but how could you miss the part with the insane cultist group known as happy happyism that is obsessed with painting the entire world blue! and you kohou how can you only play part of the game, its the greatest game ever made (in my opionon). cant get enough of earthbound. plus i liked the battle system, with the rolling hp bar in the second and third games.

This game is so epic, if anybody thinks games like FF7 and 10 are better then it, they haven't played it or are in some Sony fanboy denial.

If you are a fan of RPG's at all, you owe it to yourself to play this game, it is on a whole different level of epic and is indisputably one of the best RPG's of all time.
