Anime and Haters
Posted 4/20/08 , edited 4/20/08
>>Here's something I wanted to tell to everyone on crunchyroll.com because I think it would help the community greatly.
>>I'm not imposing anything on you, it's just my random thoughts so bear with me.
>>
>>no1. I think that we should try to refrain from bashing some animes. I mean, it's alright to say that you don't like an anime for so and so reasons, but I don't think it's necessary to tell everyone about it because you know, some people might like it and might even offend some. Also, I think we should not hate an anime for the sole reason of being popular because to me, it's not a real reason.
>>
>>The anime/manga CR community should be a peaceful one, not one full of flame wars.
>>
>>no2. Furthermore, i thought it would be good if you guys can do some research on it because some people tend to compare really old animes to new ones... I don't really think it's fair to compare them since these animes had a totally different audiences than what we have today. You guys should expect clichés when watching these shows, it was normal at that time in Japan during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s to have them. It should not be forgotten that just because an anime was released recently, it doesn't mean that the manga is new. Some mangas take more than 20 years to get adapted into animes.
>>
>>no3. I don't know if you guys noticed this trend, but every anime that gets popular in the united states get bashed to hell. It applies mosty to the shounen genre.
>>
>>no4. Ok this might seem like I'm giving you an order but please can you refrain from spoiling the whole show? I think we should only spoil the episode that you recently watched, not spoil the end of the show. Remember, some people are still watching it and it's not fun knowing that will happen next. As a tip to those who watches videos on CR, watch the episode first before reading the comments otherwise you will be quickly spoiled.
>>
>>That's it...
>>
>>Now the purpose of this thread is of course to share some of my thoughts with you hoping for the better and I want to know what you think of them. These are not rules, these are only thoughts so don't take it personally.
>>And please don't flame, if you disagree with some of my thoughts, I would like to know why. You can also share your thoughts with me. Perhaps, a better understanding of two sides (those who oppose my views and those who agree with me) can be achieved.
>>
EDIT 6 : Final edit on post.

The aftermath:
(For educational purposes only, it could teach a few things about irrelevant posting and flaming )
I asked mods to close this and my wish was granted but here's a message I got from a mod after I asked if I could remake the thread or not and if it was really useless. I got an answer.

Remake, no.
Useless, no.

I actually find the thread refreshing, mainly because it targets 'what causes flaming?' and promotes discussion rather than bashing ON flamers. Although I don't find this thread useless as some others do, I don't think there is enough backbone to remake the thread. Not to mention, once you post it again... it will end in the same result. I have also seen similar threads to yours before some were titled Flame Wars, Flaming, Anti-Flaming, etc. but none of these had the potential to stay open for discussion. Yours is much more structured I must admit, but as a forum mod, I know it will only attract more flamers and cause problems. Sadly in the end, you won't get any answers or discussion. Some of the users are far too immature to take the topic seriously.

I apologize for not being able to comply with your request, but please understand the reason for my decision.

-Mod

Too bad I can't remake the thread but now I just learned that a discussion like that cannot happen on CR.

I don't hate naruto just because the fans are USUALLY shit heads; its just because there's supposed to be a ninja who wears a neon-orange jumpsuit and used to say 'believe it!' every 5 seconds

Holy crap, someone that's not a 12 year old that thinks they know everything about Japan. I think I love you. Not really, but yeah, I agree with you. Speaking of which...

DBZ vs Naruto

They both are retarded, but what makes them different is that DBZ makes up for all of its crap by giving you a scene that, even though it may only be a few minutes long, actually makes up for the ten episode wait period, which Naruto fails to do for me.

I've seen very few anime that isn't from now or the 90's. I personally think that DBZ or Naruto can be a good start to watching anime. I started with Sailor Moon and Yu yu Hakusho but then got eventually watched more from searching. I'm not very fond of Naruto but I suppose there are worse.

You do have some good points there...
However, most of the things you mentioned are just human nature...
It's human nature to compare, bash, be biased about, and spoil various things and ideas...
These things just can't be helped...

All threads are personal in that the person created them, which means it belongs to them.
