get your rest.. pick the right foods.. which affect the chemistry in your body in a healthy way..

and for my advice.. learn ukemi waza.. and stretch your joints .. less injury
try to create plans which you can stick by or find ways to train without you even noticing
like taking up laundry in a bag, or cleaning your backyard.. or dancing.. , or using a broom
you may not think your training but.. your body will ^^

tip for 7/21/2008

here's a nice way to close the gap using dirtyboxing

when throwing a jab.. tuck the chin down.. while covering your head with the punch.. that way..
you can block the fist with the punching arm, and block the other with a halfguard for your face .. if you go real fast, and miss with the straight punch.. you can hit your opponent.. with the top of your head, just oveer the forehead.which is pretty hard..
if you are smaller you can clinch, and uppercut wih top of the head while trying to pplace the head to the nose....
wing chun practictioners also do this..

you may still get a chance to get hit.. BUT!! BUT! if you get rocked , and your head goes down.. you can bring it right back up, and hit the chin like an uppercut.. and HOOK'EM.. and clinch..

saw this on youtube ^____^

takedowns as well as any other technique depends on the persons style, or stature..
alot of ppl like using the double takedown.. but if you are small like me 5"4.. or are suddenly close to the ground LOL hehehe
try faking to punch then, grabbing one leg, and sweeping with one leg behind them, and pushing with the hand close to the belly!! takes ppl out.. without ease..believe me.. it can work..
because you are taking someone down in TWO WAYS..
attacking the body, and THE LEGS! But it works BEST when the opponent..aka UKE shifts weight by moving backwards, or forwards.. that's Judo.
and that's why I like MMA.. all relies on you.

tips of the day 7/22/2008

USE YOUR DAMN FOOTWORK ^^. If you go to the opponent through the center the is a BIG CHANCE you'll get hit in ht e head, or kicked.. SO
DISECT BODY PART.. if he is facing you... you have two or more options..

if his lead leg, and hand are facing you!!! . MOVE to straight to the OTHER SIDE OF IT, so you do not face the MIDDLE.. that way YOU'll be dealing with TWO bodyparts... easier to protect your self right? OSU!

another is going the other way closer to his rear arm, and leg... BUT TO a spaced DISTANCE! .. like kicking or punching while moving forward off his center..

you can do this forwards, or backing away.
if you move FORWARD be sure to CLOSE THE BRIDGE.. making sure you BLOCK, or parry, or grab.. so it weakens the motion of the movement., then you can clinch, or take him DOOOOWWWNN, but still there is the chance of danger

I DONT like jumping to see where I can go. eh that's the truth FOR ME.. cuz it tires me out I'd rather get them in motion or Intercept him.. If I cant grapple you..cuz your bigger or faster.. I'm stopping you.. If youare gonna GRAB ME, and SLAM ME on the ground! it's cuz I am facing you face to face..

So again USE YOUR DAMN FOOTWORK..^^ it can help you go places.. cough cough lol

A good tip: punch the sack for 5 minutes before lesson and run 2-5 klm / 1-2 miles after.
& take one day of the week off from all exercises to relax muscles&mind.

Question: My hands are all bruised up but I cant skip lessons. Any clues how to treat them fast?

Lack of vitamin C contributes to bruising, you might up your dose on that to 2000 mgs a day. Also, if yoou take advil or drink alchohol it will contribute to bruising as well. There's ana amazing cream called Arnica that d oes wonders for bruises and sore muscles. (you can also take it in homeopathic pills that you put under your tongue!) also... ICE em!!

Ok, now MY question... I broke 2 ribs(all the way through) three weeks ago when I was sparing with a big guy. I have a fight scheduled for Sept 27th (kick boxing) ...I cant do any contact training now....Any suggestions? Ive been training my endurance and goin at the heavy bag as much as the ribs can take right now...cant do sit ups or pushups...ug.

Now that you mention it, I was actually taking extra C but I stopped. I'll try again.
Havent tasted alcohol for like 2 years now so its excluded. Thanks alot~~~

If I were you, I'd postpone all fights for at least half a year. Ribs take their time to glue back and although you might actually make it through the fight, you wont be able to give your 100% all out. Plus, if you take a low hit to the broken side, your eyes will roll back.
I'd say dont stress it, take your time and heal up.

Wow no wonder I don't bruise up. I love orange juice one of my favorite drinks is to take some water, make some light green tee [put a single bag in a large mug and let it set in a window sill in front of the sun for about 30 minutes. You get the antioxidants from the green tea yet it doesn't get bitter] and I put a generousspritz of lemon in there to the point where I can taste it good but it isn't overwelming. It's a very light drink and very refreshing but healthy too!

I also cook with a lot of citrus.

I hardly ever take asprin or pain meds. When I hurt I try and master my pain in a form of conditioning. Unless I just can't operate quite well in that case feed me the morphine drip, nurse!
Alcohol thins the blood so I can see how that could contribute to bruising.

I have a homeade ofuro and I put sea salts and some mint leaves in it for a soothing bath when I get sore after training hard.

For your ribs; the best thing to do is to relax and keep an ice pack on it. Building endurance is good but don't strain yourself. It could take about a two months to heal so don't exert yourself.
It should be healed by then. The best bet is to not do anything to exert yourself.

Ninja here is what i do-

Oil. preferable pure olive oil or natural oils like that on all of you body as possible even your hair. (i don't use shampoo or other chemicals) Its good for you body and hair.

-Taking long showers or bath in the night(30min should be ok minimum)
-Sleep(it's just is)
-Food(lots of carbs and protein and veggies combo-carb for energy need, protein for DNA making of new cells and stuff, veggies make sure cells are made right and help them
---like broccoli is high on iron that is good for your red cells intake of Oxygen quantity, your thyroid gland as well as your locomotion effectiveness(kill 3 birds with one stone)
Massage- I massaged my legs, and other parts of my body every night when i did MA because it relaxes it more.

SO, here what i do sometimes:
---I come home after a long day of stuff and MA and i'm exhausted so i sit down for good 10-20 min to relax and calm down.
---then, i take hot shower for just soak in it for 20min, put soap and wash it off, turn the shower to cool and stay the for 5min(by this time all the oil and dirt is gone and your pores are open and clean)
---Once i done with shower i(three ways this can go)
a) open the window, dry the excess water off my body with towel, put olive oil on my hair and rest of the body, wait till it soaked by the body and put nightcloth after putting oceans-mell deodorant(this is only because i cannot tolerated most perfumes and deodorants after 10mins).

b) Open the window and let the water dry by it self as i sit and read or listen to music. As it dries i put olive oil and let it all soak and dry. Put deodorant and out my nightcloth.

c) Take a got bathe followed by short cool shower and do a) or b)
====NoteMassage my bruises and such as i shower and put oil.

---Now its hearty dinner, brush teeth, read a book and go to bed with some acoustic or jazz music.

Here you go.
