I wasone then I began to question it so I became Agnostic and for those who don't know what that is: one who believe in the existance of a higher being but questions the teachings of religion

Surely the Swiss Guard's only tactics are to not kill and to turn the other cheek. These were laid down by their god and don't give much wiggle room when it comes to alternate interpretations.

The Swiss Guard are mercenaries and may not have the same beliefs as those who employ them.

From Wikipedia

The guards must be Catholic, unmarried males with Swiss citizenship who have completed basic training with the Swiss military and can obtain certificates of good conduct. New recruits must have a professional diploma or high school degree and must be between 19 and 30 years of age and at least 174 cm (5'9") tall[3].

(Did someone say something about research in another thread )

i'm practicing catholic, went to a Maltese all-girls catholic school, studies theology at uni and has an avatar to prove it (my first ever avvie at CR)

and its apparently a 'historical fact' that the Knight's Templar fled their prosecution to the mountains of Switzerland where they hid (at least til they got enough leverage to continue their banking work etc....) giant leap but maybe the Swiss Guards are an off-shoot of the Templars, maybe the latter day version? ....just a thought.....

^ that avatar was fun for a while... people liked it, of course there were few who were like "put some clothes on!"

agnostics and atheists are some of the most stubborn people i know....nothing against the belief in knowledge (i believe in it too) or and lack of belief in organised religion, my sister's an atheist herself...

Well I'm a confirmed catholic...but there are times when I wish I wasn't. I'm just a little tired of all of the hypocracy that comes with organized religion. I also take issue with a lot of the archaic viewpoints that catholic church holds. For example, mother church's stance on homosexuality. I refuse to believe that one of my best friends, who in my opinion, is one of the most compassionate, caring, and self-sacrificing people I've ever met is going to burn in hell for all eternity just because he is attracted to other men. He's a much better person than I could ever be, so I just don't see the divine justice in all of that. Also, if homosexuality is such a sin, then why does the church go out of it's way to coverup and ignore all the cases of sexual abuse committed by men of the cloth? These people who are supposed to act as examples of how to live a good life, are in actuality destroying lives by committing crimes against poor defenseless children.

A Catholic once told me I was going to hell because I watched anime.

This is a direct quote:

Exodus 22:20 He who sacrifices to any other god, save to the Lord only, he shalt be utterly destroyed.

Japanese cartoons are false gods. Those who put away Jesus Christ for them shall be utterly destroyed. Burn in hell.

I was raised Roman Catholic, I stayed a Roman Catholic, and I went to a Roman Cathloic school. After I graduated from that horrible place, I went to highschool (I'm a freshmen now) at another Christian school. What was different, however, was the diversity at the highschool and how little people actually did religious things. Thanks to diversity, too much free time, lots of friends, loads of ideas, and common sense, I have managed to pull myself free from my religion's grasp to become and agnostic. Technically, I'm still Christian, and I do belive in God, but my ideas on such topics are so different than some other people's that I may as well go to California and start my own religion. I would call it "ExcessSleepingIsm".

I have to say I'm more of a Deist than anything else.

I don't follow any one set religion.
I believe that there is a God or a higher power, and that God/higher power created the universe.

I don't like the whole idea of following ancient scriptures, or books that suppose to be the words of God.
I do believe that all men should act morally..
and I do believe in miracles.

I'm a catholic. But I do stuff like tarot cards...is that okay? My family doesn't really like me doing that because we're catholic. But I heard that some catholics do that too, so is it alright? I'm very confused -_-

hell no its not ok. But mostly because its bs.

But I'm pretty sure its its not ok by "official" catholic teaching either, as it deals with the occult, but who cares, not like most (in th US, not sure about elsewhere) catholics don't condone the use of birth control.

CCC 2116: All forms of divination [emphasis added] are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to "unveil" the future.

not all forms mind you, they left it ok to use divination by the means of Cleromancy.
They justified this because this was to define exactly what gods will is.
