It was named soccer because it didn't really break into the official/professional US scene until American football was established. Rather than force their biggest sports business to change their name, they would name football as soccer. Nobody here wants to say soccer to be different. A country can't change their biggest sports tradition just because soccer is called football by other countries. Anyway, my thoughts on football (soccer) is that it is very fun to play. It requires a hell of a lot of cardio endurance and footwork so its challenging aspect is very fun. It also looks cool when people make great plays. I think soccer is one of the sports that are hard to watch compared to playing though because each goal or even possession of the ball is difficult. I'm sure people agree that soccer is tough to watch unless your a big fan or watching your team play. I wish I could play soccer right now, actually.
