^^ I'm not fluent in English either.

Frankly I generally detest people who banter the word 'intelligent' around, especially when they think an ability to write (or speak) well is a measure of a person's intelligence, which isn't always true or accurate.

The chances are if you think yourself highly intelligent, you aren't; and if you look down on people for being intellectually inferior to you, it's likely you're more stupid than they are.

Typing correctly doesn't MAKE people intelligent it makes them LOOK intelligent, hence it's associated with intelligent people. Most intelligent posters do type correctly, it's a fact. That's not to say typing incorrectly makes you stupid, just makes you look that way, and who wants to look stupid? It sometimes depends on how badly done it is too. If it's just "how r u?" that's not soooo bad but something a long the lines of "lyke zoOoOomgz lyke hw r u 2day?!?!?!" is 1. a waste of time because it takes so long to do O_o and 2. is hard to read for some people!

i do trip over my words sometimes....but hey, it's cuze i think faster than i talk, or because i think of what to say next at the moment i say it....amd also cuze i think while talking.

but then at different times i develope a different type of speech, the one where i'm allowed to be overly descriptive and speak slow...kinda funny, but hey what the heck, it works.

i don't think anybody does that exept spammers.

man, you're so sarcastic it's almost funny >_>

oh and to some, i can get that spelling mistakes can be a bother (i can get it, but i don't care so i am saying that: ) but still, even if someone spells like shit, i won't pretend to not understand so that i may appear overly intelligent and cautious of the little details of the grammatical world...i'm saying that those people need to chill the hell out...

*cough* since this is just a forum, an awesome one at that i guess, but still, freedom of speech however low it may be is to be respected, even if oyu have 10 people who feel the way you do about "the *ahem* correct way of spelling *redresses tie, feels fancy* *ahemm* and it's beauty *raises haid high* ", just keep it inside and keep interacting, spelling on a damn forum doesen't display someone's intelligence 100% mmkay?mmkay

Wow, I have been trying to find this thread for a while, It wasn't in the index , and the forum moves with a life of its own, so one thread can be very hard to find.

ooh, thank goodness, I thought I was the only one who spent an age looking up words and researching just to type a reply on forums to sound even a little intelligible!
and I think some people on this forum are so articulate and intelligent, I need to catch up on my reading so I guess some of you do have trouble when it comes to actually speaking too.
Even though I'm an over cautious (to the point of annoying myself) person it's like whenever I speak I say the wrong thing, and always end up contradicting myself. I take a long time typing replies on msn too, yet I still feel my friend thinks I'm a hypocrite. I've always wanted to be articulate. Now I'm admiring Socrates even more.

Back to the topic reading books does wonders in widening your vocabulary, so when it comes to writing something out you have a greater choice of words. If you'd rather have someone kick you up in the ass instead of reading books, read the news, anything even a little intelligent. All these will not only help in getting your point across in a more concise detailed manner in the long term but helps posting forum replies too

it works vice versa. someone can have a very strong mind, but can't get the words to say it.
i also believe when someone excels at academic ability, they lack common sense and the other way around, so its good to have a good balance.
i've spoken to people who are top of the class and all that but they are the most dense when it comes down to logical things and common sense
