Post Reply Which Is Harder To Draw: Males Or Females
Posted 2/15/14
Males, for me - there's generally a lot more muscle definition involved, and their body shape is more boxy than women's. Which sucks, because most of my characters are male. (ι´Д`)ノ

Females, since you can get away with less details and straighter lines.

Then again, it could all depend on your art style.

Guys. I don't know why, but they're just harder to draw ;A;

Males xD

We mostly draw modeled on what we know and what we're familiar with, as our brain remembers and recognizes those things more easily. (Eg. You have a round face so your characters tend to have a rounder face. Drawing thinner faces doesn't come as naturally as rounder faces do at first).
So I think it's easier for males to draw males, females to draw females, but obviously this isn't always the case xD

This might sound silly, but since I'm not attracted to males or interested in how they look, male characters are much harder to draw for me. 99% of my characters are female and the few that aren't come off as somewhat effeminate in body and facial features.

Before, females. After a while of practicing, I can say that I've managed to level the difficulty a bit.

I find it easier to draw girls because they have more softer features.
Boys are not necessarily hard. its just they have more strong features

I think I might have answered this before but I can't remember, so I'll just do it again since I doubt anyone would knows if I have or not. Anyways, my answer is actually females now. At first, it was males that I found difficult to draw but after learning to draw guys... my ability to draw females significantly dropped and now I find it easier to draw men rather than women... Such a predicament I'm in now...

I think males are more difficult to draw than females are.
I do not really know why that is, maybe because I have drawn more females than I have drawn males

I have a harder time with males, mostly because I've developed a very one-sided knowledge of drawing. I almost never draw male characters, so it makes sense that it would be more difficult.

Personally males are harder to draw considering that I've only been drawing female characters for a majority of my drawing experience.

Normally they're about equal in difficulty for me. Sometimes I have trouble drawing one and the other will be perfect. It seems to be random when I'm having an artist block or whatever it is that causes it.
