Guy Fawkes Night
Posted 11/4/07
Okay,
In england we have major firework displays and bonfires how about the other places around the world ^^ I wanna know so tell me ?

The History of Guy Fawkes

Guy Fawkes Night (also known as Bonfire Night) is an annual celebration on the evening of the 5th of November. It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th of November 1605 in which a number of Roman Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

It is primarily marked in the United Kingdom, but also in former British colonies including New Zealand, parts of Canada, and parts of the British Caribbean.[citation needed] Bonfire Night was also common in Australia until the 1980s[citation needed], but it was held on the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June.

Festivities are centred around the use of fireworks and the lighting of bonfires.

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parliament.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

So yeah that pretty much a Great Britain thing but hey = P

It's been going on ALL weekend, hell, for the last two weeks round my neck of the woods. Bloody annoying and scaring my poor little cat half to death. The selling of fireworks should be made illegal to the general public and only for sale to the large organised displays as far as I'm concerned.

Bonfire night's more fun when you're a kid nd dont feel dumb with a couple of sparklers lol. I go to this public display near my house and come back dripping in mud and almost get knocked over by the hundreds of cars that turn up. And yeah, why do ppl feel the need to start bonfire night like two days earlier?

^

sparklers are 5 times hotter than boiling water..playing with them is like playing with boiling water.. parents didn't know that

they are good fun though

i'm not sure but me and my friends had an early bonfire.. it was only us though

Hmm I guess people to to have it earlier so they don't get stuck In masses of crowds and maybe so they can see there fireworks >.< as for I live close to the river Mersey linking Liverpool soon to be capital of culture 08 and Birkenhead park. Birkenhead Park is a public park in the centre of Birkenhead, Merseyside. It was designed by Joseph Paxton and opened on 5 April 1847. It is commonly regarded as the first civic public park anywhere in the world.

so yeah my sky is like bright write now and the noise is quiet bad >.< no sleep for me
