if L was the one who found the deathnote, he would probably destroy it.
Or he will test it first and if it works he will completely destroy it...
he is not like yagami light.

From his personality and his job,
he will never use the note, if he knows the drill.
Still, if he has his own mission though working as detective,
he will probably use it as an experiment.

However, I believe Eru wont use it.
Watari won't verify it as well.

Putting L in Light's shoes, it's hard to say. If L had lived Light's life up until that moment, the chances of him following Light's path are higher than if L had lived his own life up until that moment.

It's a hard question, and there are qualifiers that need to be met before reaching a definitive answer.

First, an accurate answer to the "Nature vs. Nurture" debate would be needed. On the nurture side, if you're giving L Light's life - bored high school genius, than L wouldn't be the L we know. He would have different experiences, thoughts, emotions, memories - an entirely different socialization process than that of what we know of him. Given that their cognitive abilities are similar, L would probably come out being very similiar to Light.

But, would he react the same? On the nature side, it's hard to say. Due to our rather pathetic understanding of the human brain, this is impossible to put a finger on. Is that sense of Justice of his really originating from his own mind, or is it due entirely to his socialization?

I think we also have to take into consideration L's emotional detachment from humanity. I would guess that this would remain more or less the same. Honestly, L could give a less of a **** about individuals. He believes in sacrificing for the greater good, and he also believes that the ends justify the means. Just like Light.

Don't get me wrong, I agree 100% with the character's outlook on life - the value put on human life is illogical given the number of human beings on this planet - the more there is of something, the less value each will have.

But, these qaulities in one with his cognitive ability are extremely dangerous. And, you take away the guiding hand of Watari from him, and L becomes suddenly very unpredictable.

However, I think because of L's emotional detachment, he wouldn't make the same mistakes that Light made. Light screwed up because he let his emotions rule over him. If L had made the decision to cleanse humanity - he wouldn't have been caught. Light only won over him because he had more information (Rem loving Misa).

I think it would be clear to answer that... "It depends...."

Though Logically, Light is the reverse of Lawleit though I agree with you that "what made Light lose is letting his emotions win over him." that's 100% sure.

But, since the question's reversable, they may end up the same. Though maybe, it also depends upon the author's decision on how the story plot would end up.

Basically, Lawleit as the bored genius high school student picking up the DN in the first place would rather raise up the question : "What would he think of knowing that the DNs of deathgods are true?" i mean, since Lawleit is the reverse of Light, [though they assume they're both Justice]

"Who will prevail?" if both companies have their alases on their own hands.

If l found the Death note. He would test it. But once he finds that it does kill people he would burn it. It's just the way L is.

L wouldn't have been a bored High-School student... also, if he found it, he would not have written anyone's name in it.
