sweet a thread about the RS.

Here's mine, its a journal entry from another forum

Hi everyone,

I've been off the radar for a while and decided to continue the money pit

MY01 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Last seen looking like this

As you can see it was very stickerful and hard on the eyes

I've decided to start over and do something different.

Hopefully I'll be able to update on the process often as possible. What I can say is the biggest change is I finally did an engine swap and it is 100% Cali smog legal

continued....

While my good ole c-west body kit with a greddy front lip lasted me a good 7 years, It's time to revamp the look of the car. Fate decided to explode my greddy front lip of a snow plow about a month ago, so now I am awaiting the slow boat from japan for my c-west front lip to finish it off. In the mean time I got a chance to be the first to run the first production run of wide fenders offered by www.aitracing.com

Pics below

Please note the pop rivets are kinda gross looking but the reason why I did this is because in case it cracks or breaks, I can replace on the fly. Molding it would be dope but body work gets expensive and time consuming so I'll skip on that and take it to the track

Since I am uber broke I'll be doing the wheel spacer to bring out the wheels for now. I got my hands on used hubs so I'm off researching upgraded bearings to endure the stress of a low offset wheel.

Sadly the US received mostly the 2.5rs in FWD. Its really hard to find an AWD model.

Totally untrue.

In fact, ALL Subaru models after either '93 or '94 have been AWD, be it an RS, Outback, Legacy, "Vanilla" Impreza, whatever.

That includes all 2.5RSes.

As for the car overall, it's a story not unlike the 240SX. It's got the underpinnings of an excellent car (GC WRX/STi), but not the engine or the suspension/driveline tuning the Japanese and European performance models had. However, all those items can be replaced, and when there's an EJ20T under the hood, the car's a beast.

By the way, somebody said that Subaru isn't as bad as Mitsubishi, who used the same motor for 9 generations of Evo. Actually, Subaru is WORSE in that regard! All Japanese-Market WRXs/STis have used variants of the EJ20T motor, from the original GC8A Ver.1 STi to the new GR-chassis Ver.10 STI. Other markets, however, starting with the first US Ver.8 in '04, and spreading into the US WRXs, as well as European/UK models, have switched to the EJ25T series of 2.5l motors, primarly because of the "cleaner" emissions performance of the 2.5.

I wanted one of those cars, but the thing is my parents only believe in cars like BMW and Benz.
