revenge is a double edged sword my friend, theres no end.

What it would be, is what it wouldn't be, you see?

Revenge leads to more revenge. So it'll never end unless you chose to end it.

think revenge can only end when you let it. An option that's not passively taking it over revenge when someone "wrongs" you
is to transform the emotion (hold the best love you've ever felt w/ the neg emotion/same time changes it (even if it takes awhile) you're having so you don't keep creating the same thing over and over and let the other person create their own fate with all their nastiness> (some of the more serious things i still get stuck on ) think the key is to love and take care of yourself first, what's the point of winning if you just make more problems for yourself? If you refuse to play their hate game and just refine yourself; does it end it? or if you play the hate game do you bind yourself into more hate? |

But, for some people, from experience, even though you have decided to play the hate game, they still continue. Like, it gives them satisfaction.. Like you've lost cause you aren't doing anything. And they find it fullfilling to themselves. Yet I guess... People will always talk. Being there just gives them something to talk about |

I still think my answer from two years ago achieves an nice synthesis between the extremes posted on this thread.
I wish an enemy a long and happy life... FAR from mine. If he persists on harming me and mine, I will make sure he is unable to do so. any revenge I fortuitously snag on the way will have to fit it self between those two principles. |

Revenge never stops. There's always gonna be someone who wants to get revenge for someone else. There's a point where you just have to give up. (I know this from experience!)

I'm too lazy to bother with revenge, I'll just move on, do something productive.

You can't criticize anything you do if you're always a student to life.

Yea you get some satisfaction, but sometimes you have to take the highroad and let things go.Unless its just completely disrespectful. Then you have to do something,...
You can't just let ppl try you or it will continue and only get worse. |

I'm young, I'm strong. I get my revenge.
aha but my revenge is ignoring them for the rest of their lives... or at least until they apologize to me, which they usually do. Then I feel like the winner, even if it's my fault. But in general: Revenge is not sweet. It can get bloody and complicated. It can also get to the point of where the original conflict is forgotten. Ex: Romeo and Juliet. |

There is a difference between "revenge" and "justice."
Revenge is committed for the self-satisfaction of "getting even." It is not limited to the punishment that is due, but only stops when the anger fueling the act of revenge is exhausted. Justice is a complete accounting of the wrongful acts committed, including punishment meted according to the depth of the crime, and restoration of what was lost. Perfect justice is sort of an ideal, and is not fully realized by the law. For an example, suppose a murderer is put on trial and sentenced to death. The death of the murderer may fulfill the punishment measured for the crime (in exchange for the victim's life, the murderer must lose his/her own life). However, the law fails to restore what was lost--namely, the life of the murder victim. For this reason among others, it is tempting to resort to "taking the law into one's own hands," which is another way of saying "taking revenge." The law can only punish criminals, but cannot restore what is lost. Revenge is no better at accomplishing complete restoration. If anything, cycles of revenge result in collateral damage, and drag even more people into the world of pain and hurt. In this life, the only way to "stop" revenge is to be the first person to show humility and back off. This is only possible if such a person believes that the offender will eventually receive his/her due, perhaps on a Judgment Day to take place at the end of time. |
