They don't have to know their misfortune was a result of you. You feel vindicated, and they feel shit. Enjoyable outcome, mostly. Depends how badly you wanted it. If you didn't want it badly enough you will feel guilty. The revenge has to be proportionate to how badly you wanted it. If you beat someone to an inch of their life for nicking your favourite cookie... thats a bit excessive. Revenge is sweet. Its not like resolving stuff with people you hate ever really works. You might come a truce, but the hate is still there, and so is whatever they've inflicted on you, that you can't get over. Revenge allows you to move on.. if they don't associate it with you.. and even if they do, you just have to be smarter next time!

An ideal revenge would be to exact for the loss of the one who does it. After vengeance (and justice, if you say it) is served, that should stop there. But human society is a complicated network of friends and families, and hate spreads beyond the people originally involved.

Anger, lack of power and control, sorrow. The desire to hurt the ones that have hurt us. It is not natural and is a shame of the human race. It poisons our soul. Problems need to be solved in a different way. Geting revenge will not undo its cause.

If I"m really mad at someone o they did something bad to me. I first ignore them and talk about it with my close friends. I also think they should be punished in some way, but not by revenge... I try to talk to them and make them understand. but usually that never helps and so I be a "smart-mouth"...
