From what I understand, it was actually on the day of his wedding. Sad thing to see. I can understand that cops need to protect themselves too; but shooting haphazardly based on a suspicion is something that just shouldn't happen.

I didn't hear about the bit about him trying to run over one of the officers though...

Yeah i just read the links and it said that.
I mean..shouldnt they go search him or something or at least have valid evidence.
Even if they absolutly shoot him, why shoot him 50 times?
How about once in the leg where it wont kill him or anything like that

They didn't just shot him once they shot him 50 times! I'll understand ONCE but not 50. Shit, I would run too if secret agents or whatever they were came up to me... I'm not sure if he did try to run them over or not. BUt they should of gave warning shots and maybe 5 shots. not 10x that!

i suggest doing some research before saying anything.and that goes for the rest of ya saying once is enough.

nope because it wasnt the cops fault.

I dunno, considering how there was three detectives on the scene, each with one gun. I'm sure the fifty shots were necessary to obtain a safe passageway to detainment.

Seriously now, in the average armed shoot-out (or in case of a fleeing suspect), the reasonable amount of shots landing on the target range from 0-10 (10 being in the rare case of a shoot-out). Now if you apply that logic to the fact he was at a party, while in an area so confined that any assault may endanger others' lives, I think the detectives were at fault.

Perhaps you can explain why fifty-odd shots were required to seize the suspect?

there were 5 detectives on the scene. All of them thought sean and his friends have a gun. IF one cop fires, the other 4 will. Let say all 5 officer are opening fire, you cant really tell if Sean and his friends are shooting back because of the confusion. According to a witness, one officer yelled out "POLICE, SHOW YOUR HANDS". This was tragic accident. Both party were at fault but sean and his friends were to blame. DONT RUN FROM COPS. better yet, dont try running them over.

edit- and one of sean's friend lied to the judge. Saying that Sean last words was "i love you man". but sean's throat was busted, so he couldnt had said anything.

Where did you hear there was five? Every News site I've been to has been reporting it at 3.

IE: "Three detectives had been on trial for a range of charges, from manslaughter to misdemeanor reckless endangerment."

Perhaps I misread the three being charged, with the five firing.

Well, according to ballistic results (offered by the police force), the only two guns fired were the detectives; so why exactly did it take more shots in this case of detainment against an unarmed man, than it does against an armed man who has killed victims?

Also, I wouldn't believe any witness reports included in the detectives statements:

"Critics suggest that the scenario was concocted by the police officer in order to justify the shooting.[16] Columnist Juan Gonzalez reported in the New York Daily News that, according to a law enforcement source, in the hours immediately following the incident, there was no mention of a fourth man in the police calls and no search was launched for the potentially armed man. This source thus contradicted initial reports that the police searched the neighborhood for the missing man.[19]

According to Michael Palladino, the head of the detectives union, a man who was working as a janitor in a nearby building while the incident occurred later told the detectives that he had seen a black man fleeing the scene, and that the man had fired a gun, at least once, at the police. The witness further stated that he had then heard the officers shouting "police, police." According to the police, there is no ballistic evidence indicating that any weapon, other than those of the officers', was fired at the scene."

Also, "...In an interview on Larry King Live, accompanying Bell's fiancée Nicole Paultre, Al Sharpton stated that according to his conversations with eyewitnesses, none of the three men who were shot mentioned a gun while leaving the club."

There goes the all reasonable doubt upon the subject of why the police officers trailed him to his car, and abandoned his post.

I'm sure you wouldn't be speaking at all, when an officer emptied one clip in you, reloaded, then emptied another in you. Read the above quote upon the subject of lying, if you will.

"According to Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, veteran officer Michael Oliver emptied two full magazines, firing 31 shots from a 9mm handgun and pausing to reload at least once.[11] Some shots hit nearby homes and a train station. Five of the seven officers investigating the club were involved in the shooting. Detective Paul Headley fired one round, Officer Michael Carey fired three, Officer Marc Cooper fired four, Officer Gescard Isnora fired eleven, and Officer Michael Oliver fired thirty one times."

They didn't shot him for no reason they shot him cuz he was black I mean 50 times if they do go to jail they will probably get a reduced sentence and probation

3 was charged because they shot the most if i recall correctly.

if two guns were fired then why is 3 officer being charged? 0.o and they didnt know sean's and his friends were unarmed. they thought they were armed...

The fourth man was found later on. wasnt he?

there was more than one witness

It was stripe club. Sean and his friend just had beef with someone and it was 4 in the morning. if i was an officer i wouldve followed them.

exactly. one of Sean's friend lied. so his statements cant be taken seriously.

Um, I'm not really going to fix the quotes since they're messy, so I'll reply like this.

The 2 firing, and 3 being charged comes from the two guns being discussed where the two guns of the two immediate chasing officers, the other three would arrive later on.

The fourth man isn't cleared as a fleeing suspect or just a suspect. So the attorney used him as a suspect I believe instead.

But just like you below with how since Sean's friend lied his statements cannot be taking seriously, it applies to the detectives union also, as they told a life upon hearing one of the suspects talk about a gun, and how they reported a witness saying the man fired back, when really under ballistic results of the two chasing, there was no fire returned.

People like that (the cops) shouldn't carry guns. At all.

Fifty times suggests clearly that they just... wanted to shoot something.

cops abuse their position.
especially those racist white officers.

Some things I've learned from this unfortunate tragedy:

1) If you are legally drunk, do not drive. Miscommunication is just deadly as getting into an accident, as evidenced here.
2) If you are a cop, identify yourself clearly as one. If a plain clothes cop pulled a gun on me and didn't say anything, I'm thinking that I'm about to get robbed, not arrested. And if I'm in my car, and I'm thinking that I'm about to get robbed, I'm making a swift attempt to get the f*ck out of there.
