Did Abraham really live until he was a 1000? -- I think that's highly exaggerated. Wasn't it something much, much lower like 300 yrs?

ok 1 dnt tell ppl what to think. If she or he wants to take the bible literally let em do it it's not ur problem other wise dnt read the thread uhhhhhhh...anyways I dnt think it's possibly today because even if the person had the means and the will to eat absolutely healthy and exercise and all that you have to take into consideration things like polution and certain gases emitted by cars and all that stuff. I think it's possible but not in todays world.

Open a biology book. Seriously.

Or at least go this route, because the little 'controversy' you are having with your friends is a bunch of unsound nothingness with weak basis.

This thread is ridiculous. "The bible says" is nothing but arguing in a circle.
Stop taking the Bible literally in every single sentence. I beg of you.

Its impossible. Consider at human heart. The heart slows down when you get older; it doesn't keep working forever. Its a record just to live to the 120's. Think about heart rate and target heart rate:A pre-determined pulse to be obtained during exercise when circulation is working at full efficient capacities. To give an example: The average heart rate for a man is 70 bpm. Oh let's be optimistic and say this is an 18 year old man with a high level of fitness. His target heart rate would be between 141 and 182. Okay so his target heart rate is between 71 and 122 above his heart rate. When you 'imagine' a person to be 1000 years old, his/ her target heart rate would be between -546 and -702. Yes, that means their heart wouldn't work. If you simply add 71 or 122 to the numbers, their heart still wouldn't work. This has nothing to do with no diseases and no "bad things", unless you consider having a heart (in the literal sense) a bad thing. How can you prove the bible is correct?

This is a contraversy over my friends that the Bible says a person can live over 1000+ years old....becuase they think that early time in BC, they dont have any technology and such pollution to delt with everyday....furthermore, they dont eat preservative foods, oily foods and etc..

But, for me it is impossible for a human being to live over 1000+ years old....so much so they dont have cure for any illness or diseases that they may encounter...for instance, my mother's sister died at the age of 10 becuase they dont have any cure for a common cold in their time.......the oldest women that I remember can only live for 120 years old and she is considered to be the oldest women on earth.....

What are your thoughts about it.......Do you believe it or not??

what the bible means was God was with those people and they lived long lives, though not neccessarily that long. its that simple.

poor fools, unable to interpret simple things. Read and heed.

^ That makes more sense. I was thinking that 1000 yrs was much too long for anyone to live but if I asked if 200 yrs is possible, I would definitely say yes.

Back in the caveman days the average lifespan was 40 years. It's impossible to live over 1000 years the bible likes to make up playful stories.

Any number that is overexaggerated in the Bible would just show it has a symbolic meaning to it. That is to say that it wasn't intended for a factual point, rather more on what God intended to show and teach those people from the readings.
