life has no meaning on a cosmic scale

the only way life can have meaning is when a person values it.......... i guess

life is anime..

but seriously, until you find your purpose.. i guess that's how you find what's the meaning of your life.. but just live one day at a time.. enjoy every minute of it or you'll get old and ugly if you worry so much about it..

go watch some animes!!

"To ask ‘What is the meaning of life?’ is a poor choice of words and leads to obfuscation rather than clarity." - Steve Else. "A problem with this question is that it is not clear what sort of answer is being looked for." - Rebecca Linton. I agree with both of these statements. The question is troublesome to begin with.

I don't realize some kind of higher purpose, but some things are certainly better then others. Love and peak experience come to mind as perhaps the best ones.

Well, I won't bother typing much more, but check out some answers written to Philosophy Now: http://www.philosophynow.org/issue59/59question.htm

^^^ You speak the truth. 42.

On a more serious note, (and a depressing one) sometimes I think the meaning of life may be to die, and what we make inbetween the two points is our own choice. Because what does every living thing on earth have in common? Its going to die. So surely there must be reason in this.

^maybe you should explain the 42 thing. Well basically, its from hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. Some people built a super computer to figure out the meaning of life, and gave it 10million years (or some very long time) and the answer the machine spewed out was 42. It was absolutely sure the answer was 42. There was something about not asking the right question or not understanding what they were asking I believe. I may be mistake on this part, but an even greater super computer was build, and its answer on how to find the meaning of life was to create life that investigates, in other words, us.

How sure are we that everything is going to die? I think its much safer and more reasonable, to go with...what does everything living thing on earth have in common...that its alive. The meaning of life is to be alive? Or as Tim Bale puts it, "The meaning of life is not being dead." Not to helpful.

Biologically: Procreate and die.

Spiritually: Persuit of your personal truth(s).

Realistically: Nothing.

Yes, the meaning of life IS 42. No, seriously. I think the meaning of life (I don't mean to get all Christian-y) is to love God, and to live life as best as we can, and try to be happy.

There is no meaning.

There is Life.

Accept that fact and get on with doing something more constructive then wasting time.

Ahh, but how do we know we're alive? What if...when we die, we are actually born into the real world, meaning, we're dead already and waiting to live...yeahhh...I think its just easier to say humans don't know much about anything.
