Even if you could figure it out, I fear the Vogon construction fleet is unstoppable, because the building project has allready been approved and we would need to send a cancellation application four years back in time to hit the opposition deadline

Since we've reached a point in humanity where simply passing on your genetic material is no longer a demand for the continuation of the species..
I would have to say the meaning of life would be the betterment of the human species or society. In a smaller sense, just the betterment of your own community. People don't need to have kids anymore, with the overpopulation issue, but if we want to continue being a thriving species then we do need those who support others in various different manners. Inventors, artists, writers, doctors, protectors, visionaries, workers...

Obviously, one should be relatively content in their own lives but that is more of a personal issue. Since it is a personal issue, no one can say anything really to change how you view your own life unless you let them. I've know plenty of people with much that decide on being miserable and people with little that are happy. I'm sure there's a Disney song there somewhere.

You know what, screw it, just watch a Disney movie. Meaning of life in a nutshell, plus talking animals.

It may be bland, but to me, it is all that's true. The "meaning of life" stuff just comes off as forced to me. There's no need to figure it out.

to enjoy it as best as possible

the anime "Berserk" has some great themes about living life and what it means.

Follow your own dreams lest you become wrapped up in somebody elses

Ahhh, but with the use of a homemade scrabble set in prehistoric times it was discovered that the ultimate Question is(drumroll please) What do you get if you multiply six by nine?

The answer severely depends on what you believe.

If ya believe in God, the meaning of life is a glorious thing. We were created for the purpose of effecting one another's destiny (and our own) as we venture through our lives until the day of our ultimate demise when we are judged for our deeds in life and either sent to a place of glory or a dwelling of suffering to exist for all eternity. In my opinion, the meaning is to prove your goodness to the almighty and to seek the ultimate paradise far beyond human comprehension.

If ya don't believe in God, life really must have no meaning. I mean, if you believe there is no God, then (at least in my opinion) you realize that life here on earth really is a freak result of beautiful coincidence. I mean, what meaning in life have you if you know that you, everyone before you, and everything that will live after you is mortal and has or will die; that erasing earth and everyone that lives on it wouldn't mean a thing at all - either to you, anyone alive, and anyone to come. The true meaninglessness in mortality becomes a true realization.

Again, this is all IMO.

To me, life is all about doing the things worth doing, seeing the things worth seeing, and enjoying it all to the fullest. If you let your life go to waste, at the end you'll be disappointed.

What exactly is worth seeing and doing is of course a matter of personal opinion. For example, my main goal is to become an electronics engineer and create useful, enjoyable, and innovative devices that I can be remembered for. To me that's something worth doing in my life, and if I can achieve that goal, I'll be able to look back on it with pride.

There's something Nikola Tesla said that sums up my feelings pretty well:
"Let the future tell the truth, and judge each according to their actions. The present is theirs. The future, for which I have truly worked, is mine."

The meaning of life is to reproduce and nurture. From a biological standpoint, to fuck like there's no tomorrow, from a societal standpoint, to take care of others.
