"The purpose of life is a life of purpose"
-Robert Byrne
That's the funny thing about Life and death.
"Death is more universal than life; everyone dies but not everyone lives."

If the theory of the big bang is correct then there is no meaning to life.
The creation of life was just a coincidence.

To live how you want then eventually die miserably because life is miserable.

Reproduce, life sucks, and then you die.
It's pretty cruel.

Ok. First of all I don't normally post on forums but this one made me both depressed and hopeful. To those who read this post hopefully you will read it with an open mind, without presuppositions. Here is why.
The meaning of life cannot be "to live." That is self defining and therefore empirically impossible to prove or disprove. Its like me saying "I am awesome." Who can say otherwise? But who can prove it?
To basically every other answer to the meaning of life: money, clothes, sex, to find meaning in oneself, ect. All of these answers are inadequate. Mankind has a need for something truly satisfying that can fill his wants. Nothing on this earth can do this, because everything here is temporary.
The one true God, however, can fill man's desire.
Isaiah 55:1-3“Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
2 Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and you will delight in the richest of fare.
3 Give ear and come to me;
listen, that you may live.
Here, God is not saying that Christians will prosper. In fact, he promises christians will be persecuted. What he is saying is that He (The living waters and the bread of life) can fulfill all human desire. When we worship God and surrender our lives to Him only then can we be truly happy. See John 4:1-26 - the woman at the well, and see Matthew 6:25-33.
