i just read it on a site www.ffcompendium.com where they put crossovers from various final fantasies...

this was taken from the site:

At the end of FFX-2, after the scene in the Farplane Depths involving Paine's past and Paine's Sphere, if you talk to Shinra on the Celsius, he mentions that he's found evidence of a planet energy in the realm of the farplane, one that could be used to power cities day and night. Shinra then laments that it would take generations to refine the process and both he and Yuna lament that they won't be around to see it. This presents a similar correlation in the fact that A) Shinra is the name of the malevolent electric company in FF7 and the planet energy he speaks of is similar to the Lifestream, and the city as Midgar. (sent by Dalton of Zeal) Here is the full text of the speech:
SHINRA: "Aha..."
YUNA: "What are you looking at?"
SHINRA: "Farplane data. The more I study it, the more fascinating it gets. There's limitless energy swirling around in there."
YUNA: "Limitless energy?"
SHINRA: "The life force that flows through our planet...I think. With a little work, we could probably extract the energy in a useable form."
BROTHER: "Sweet!"
SHINRA: "Of course, that'd take generations."
BROTHER: "That's no fun!"
BUDDY: "Well, still, it is something worth shooting for."
YUNA: "Think how much Spira would change if we ever got it to work! Maybe one day we could build a city full of light, one that never sleeps!"
SHINRA: "No doubt about it."
YUNA: "Just imagine! But I'll never get to see it...will I..."
(Shinra shakes his head, meaning "no")
BROTHER: "Shinra! Don't make Yuna sad!"
SHINRA: "Right. My bad."

could midgar be the city yuna saw as full of light, one that never sleeps??? and since Shinra was the one who found the lifestream in ffx-2, ShinRa corp was named after him???

haha... it has a cute point.

Actually, when you're around the outskirts of Midgar, it's always dark.

Maybe it's just coincidence. There's so many similarities among the FF series. But then, again. Maybe, just maybe, it is.

I read somewhere that the designers actually did make a connection between the two games. So yeah, it might be that the events of Final Fantasy X and X-2 happened hundreds, maybe even a thousand years before the events of FFVII.

Still, it contradicts certain elements:
1. Shinra was often referred to as a lowly weapons manufacturing company and/or electric company before they found out the uses of Mako energy. So unless Shinra of FFX-2 was a weapons manufacturer or head of an electric company, there will be a significant plot loop-hole that will require numerous retcons.
2. In FFX, they refer to the world as Spira. In FFVII they referred it as "the Planet" so that's another problem for you.
3. The world map of Spira is quite different from the world map of FFVII. There should be a northern crater. Because besides Midgar, the Northern Crater is a very important location (that's where the ultimate action in FFVII took place).

That aside, it's a very wonderful idea, something the fans will certainly like.

Tetsuya Nomura and co. made a connection but it I think it was just to tease the players. The timeline is sort of different and if FFX and FFVII are connected, then FFX must have occured hundreds perhaps a thousand years before FFVII. That would make the people in FFX the CETRA that was mentioned in FFVII.

No it cant be true! cause the world map of FFVII is different than the map in FFX. so saying that the Map in FFVIII should be no differ than the map in FFIX than So the Question that was ask is not a sequel from FFVII to FFX. cause all the Final Fantasy are all different except for some of them!

one more thing tidus went from the past to the future. So yuna time into the future would be Midgar
time line

Zanarkand Big city tidus time where he went to the future from sin------------------------------------yuna's time fighting sin 1000 years into the future,---------------------------so midgar FFVII would be here than. Midgar would take the location at Calm Lands then

Although I believe that FFVII is NOT a sequel of FFX, if both games happened thousands of years (perhaps millions of years) apart, then it is possible.

But then again, this is ALL a teaser. something that would put the fans into a frenzy of specualtion.
