I find it kinda weird...how people always bash yaoi/gay series...but you never see any lesbian/yuri series getting bashed...............and that mostly the people who bash the series are male.....is it me or is there some issue with them not being able to keep their thoughts to themselves and not bash things? Just wondering.

1st bold: This is true, however by the same token the majority of people who are outspoken in defence of yaoi are female.

2nd bold: This is the internet. If you weren't expecting arguments then you came to the wrong place. The internet is made up of people from many different types of backgrounds and upbringings, and in many places/faiths homosexuality is not something that is tolerated or viewed as being morally acceptable.

yaoi is just like any kind of anime I find out there so I don't see anything wrong about them.... in addition, for some reason guys prefer yuri and girls are for yaoi and yet they are still about relationship between two people with the same gender... they are quite entertaining if the viewer do/does love the genre of just someone who wants to watch a series with a different twist that the ordinary...
i guess humans are like magnets... they repel same polars and attracted to the opposite...

So I been seeing some pretty nasty comments about the gay anime that's been coming out recently near Gay Pride Day (April 25, respecting a 15 year old student who was killed because of his sexuality). I already said it twice but please, just grow up already. The world is not full of straight people and you just have to accept that. Besides, just because it's a gay anime doesn't mean it's not a good one. So next time you see a gay anime, just enjoy it without leaving behind a nasty comment.

Take this from a straight girl. [:

I've edited your post a little for better discussion.

I think there is another issue here: Bashing yaoi/shonen-ai/shojo-ai/yuri for the express reason that it is homosexual is in poor taste. It's like bashing an action anime for simply being an action anime. If you hate the genre, then there is no reason to even watch it, because it's made for a different audience.. Now if you do watch it because you like action animes, and find that it sucks as an action anime, then it's ok to criticize it. :\ once again, it boils down to bias.

Jorlwind

It's true that people shouldn't be bashing yaoi/shounen ai animes simply because of their genre, if you don't like it don't watch it. There are some instances on the other hand where making comments on it is entirely appropriate. For example, I personally don't care for yaoi at all and do my best to avoid it. Therefore when I found out that Monochrome Factor, which in its manga form is not a shounen ai, was turned into a shounen ai for the anime I was thoroughly disappointed and therefore left negative feedback.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not a homophobe. My roommate is gay after all.

I can sort of second that...when scenes of or resembling yaoi are thrown into a show at moments I'm not expecting, I am sort of taken aback.

It's not so much that I'm against yaoi, and even if I were, I am not one whose opinion holds enough merit to make any difference anyways, but I will honestly admit that I sometimes find yaoi bothersome. I don't mind gay characters--in fact, I have a number of gay friends, including two of my very close friends-- I just prefer not seeing such explicit interactions. I don't mind if two male characters love each other at all, and if it's that sort of interaction, then sure, I'd watch it happily. But any sexual development will typically bother me.

Then again, that is why I stay away from yaoi. And at that, I also stay away from yuri, too, because I find it almost equally bothersome. Even regular heterosexual hentai I find bothersome, for a variety of reasons. But I will say, I tend to respect yaoi the most of the three, even though I don't watch any of them. Yaoi-- from what I have observed or heard, at least-- seems to do a much better job tapping into real emotions and real situations than the other two, and for that I do respect it.

Most people who bash yaoi have never seen it, never plan on seeing it, and never will see it. It's a very sensitive issue for many people, just like homosexuality in general, and unfortunately people tend to forget to be civil in the process.

i so agree. every time, i watch yaoi anime. there is always at least one comment saying it's disgusting and that it should be banned from crunchyroll but i don't really get it. if they don't like it then why do they go on the page? And also when they realize that the anime that they are watching is yaoi, they start critizing it but they should of read the description first!

It may also be because some men think that yaoi compromises their manliness.

So do I. Considering that gay/yaoi is usually looked down upon in most cultures. It's like their love is strong enough to not care about this and what others think about them whenever they see them together. Since the norm is usually heterosexual, they're breaking the barrier and loving each other without anyone being able to go through and disturbing their relationship. xD So it's much more intimate and unbreakable than most romances....but it's also much more heartbreaking. I have no problem with Yaoi or Yuri. I do get a little queasy when it's ALL about sex though.

I do find it really intresting when a boy (or girl) in a Yaoi/Yuri anime has intimacy with a criminal/suspect of the same sex just to become closer to them to solve the case and put the criminal in jail. I don't see many of those though. If you know an anime like that please message me.

i agree with mizzlito1, it kinda ticks me off when i see all those negative comments. i mean seriously, id u dont like it that much then y do u watch it in the first place? and not everyone wants to know how 'gross' or 'eeeeewww' or 'nasty' you think it is. dont like- dont watch. im not in the position to tell ppl to stop it or anything, but it is rude to some ppl. i have a lot of gay friends, and they're the most awesome ppl in the world.

well i just had to say that. thats my personal opinion, and im a yaoi fangirl myself .
