Are you still living in the 90's? If so I can understand what you're saying, but if you're living in the present, you are one poor, disillusioned soul. =|

I know what you mean, damn, people are getting my nerves saying all dubs suck when they have probably seen like probably two...>__<

Anything before the 2000's were pretty much crap, but dubs have become increasingly more accurate. I've seen more good dubs than I have bad. 50% of which were BETTER than the Japanese version. And really, unless you understand fluent Japanese, you can't judge a dub by the Japanese version. If you don't know the language, you have no idea if you are listening to gold or crap.

I don't think that is necessarily true. Sometimes when you listen to a dub the the words are spoken and understood, but the tone is emotionless. You listen to it in it's original language, and if its well acted, you can feel the emotions portrayed solely by the tone of voice.
You can watch a well acted raw anime and feel more emotionally connected to the characters and the plot then you would if you watched a bland dubbed version.

I agree. Though Cowboy Bebob was SUPERB![90's I think...]] I think some of the stuff on Toonami is bad like Blue Dragon ,but recently I haven't seen any bad dubbing... EXACTLY! I think people who do the subs and strictly NO dubs think they are being "cultural"...wanna be Japanese..

I've seen a few terrible dubs ( Like Tsubasa Chronicle, horrendous dub, but it was a bad anime in the first place ). Regardless, nowadays dubs are more than often, great.

Anime is becoming more popular in the US recently. I think that may play a role.

I know I think that people who are strictly sub or raw are the only ones who say it sucks...I'm sorry ,but I do prefer dub I actually like to watch the action and understand the language instead of read the whole time... I don't that's me.

I do usually prefer anime in the original language. Though, when it comes to anime that doesn't even take place in japan I think the dubs are far superior. I thought the dubs for both Gunslinger Girl & Hellsing were far better then the original. Also sometimes I like to sit back relax, talk to someone, etc. while I watch an anime. I have no intention of reading subtitles while in this mode.

Getting back to the subject. I don't think The dub was amazingly well done, but I was surprised by the quality of it. The actors were actually trying to portray the characters somewhat.
+9 cool points for not giving outrageous american southern accents to characters.

Just a little something I'd like to point out; the reason characters are given southern accents in anime is usually because the character in the Japanese version has an Osaka accent. Thus a southern accent is the most accurate accent to give them in the English version.

I could care less for the reasons they have in doing it. It's disgusting and in no way fits the characters I have seen.

I know when I'm watching subs I can't turn my head for second or I'll miss something..but in the dubs I can talk and still hear what's going on..

=| Then you're basically saying that you don't care about how the character was originally portrayed. Take Mako from Nerima Daikon Brothers. In the Japanese version she had an Osaka accent, and in the dub she had a southern accent, without that, Mako just wouldn't be Mako. Same with Kanone from Spiral. The accent is just part of the character.

I can't tell you how pissed I was when the didn't give Mello ( Death Note ) a British accent in the dub. D<

I saw the dub during comic con and i just saw it again few min ago and I gotta say that (and I'm sorry to say this) it was horrible and it could have been a whole lot better and normally I like anime dubs

WTF...I thought it was flawless. What's wrong with it? I watch dubs all the time actually prefer them. I don't get it what's so horrible about it???

Okay maybe horrible was too strong of a word to use but it still could have been better but to me most of the voices didn't seem to match the person character prefectly. Like take Leoluch for example it didn't have the same feeling of emotion when he said " Leoluch ve Britannia commands you all of you die" and don't get me started on the dialogue. So yeah it really could have been better.

Everyone has their opinion.. I think it will get better. I liked it. I didn't find anything wrong..

yeah you maybe right personally I hope it gets better

I already thinks it great ,but their's always room for improvement! :3

Yeah I hate people who automatically bash it just because it's not in the original language. Though my reason is that the majority of them are close minded ignorant pissants who wouldn't give anything out of their "norm" a chance.

Too many people exaggerate. I can respect them for their decision in subs ,but when they say all dubs suck, I bring out the claws!

No no. I'm talking about the absurdly overdone southern accents that were given to animes back in the 90s. For example the Love Hina dub. Kitsune's english dub killed my ears. Though that anime came out around the early 2000s

well lets get this topic back it wasn't made for another dubs vs subs argument theres many other topics where you can fight about the long battle of dubs everyone has there own opinions (btw i didnt quote yours cause i was particular saying this to you just you were closest to quote when reading}... but yea the main point is drop the dub and sub conflict or someone is bound to report and send this to one of the sub topics of dub vs sub

I know for real. I mean little kids aren't going to be attracted to shows that don't speak their language and have to read the whole time...
