Personally I think sex ed should be necessary because from what I've seen in others forums, there's an astounding lack of knowledge on such an essential topic. I live in a Conservative state and I go to a Catholic school (for logistical and academic reasons only) so I have only had experiance in abstinence education.

In the class I had the presenters grossly exaggerated the number of people with STD's, the risks of condems, and compared unrelated data with others. Probably the most offensive thing to me was that they held up thre roses and said "If you're pure and wait for marriage you have this lovely gift to give to your spouse on your wedding night. If you have sex before marriage *rips a few petals off* you aren't perfect but you still have a nice gift left. If you continue to do so *rips all petals off third rose* then this is what you're left with." They also went through all the risks of heterosexual interaction (the word gay wasn't even brought up). I also asked for the numbers and margins used in the study which neither presenter could produce.

Seriously, although I don't condone underage sex, I think youth have a basic right to learn vital
knowledge instead of what we're left with. I feel very lucky that my mom's a doctor and she explains the actual statistics. But I want to know your opinions on this. Please don't get too gross and try not to flame.

I think there is a thread like this already but the search function isn't working so oh well. I also think sex ed is necessary.

Sex education........ I don't really learn much from it because they always keep it pg13 make things sound complicated. I some how learn from my friends' dirty jokes.

Wow... guess i'm lucky living in Canada . Here they're pretty open minded when it comes to teaching sex ed. I mean one way or another, we're gonna need to be informed. Better to be prepared then not.

I think sex ed is needed and the normal sex ed classes from what i had anyways doesn't cut it. A lot of the time underage sex is done because of curiosity and by hiding things it just makes it a higher chance someone will do it. If they are going to they should know the risks behind it and how to protect them selfs. I've seen some schools nurses even have condoms in there office in a place were people can get to with out anyone seeing them. This is because kids at that age they are to scarred to go buy them or take them in fount of someone. They are going to do it regardless of having one might as well let them have it safer right?

Here is something my mom said to my sister when my sis told my mom she was going to wait until marriage to have sex for the first time.

NO YOU WILL NOT YOU WILL HAVE SEX WITH AT LEAST TWO DIFFERENT GUYS BEFORE YOU GET MARRIED THIS WAY YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN BAD SEX AND BETTER SEX!

Yes she screamed that to my sis when she was driving the car she also slammed on her brakes and almost got hit because of it. I'll agree with her everyone has the right to know the different between bad sex and better sex. As a guy it's easer for me to say sex was good then it would be for a girl. I'm not saying everyone should go out and just F two random people. If you are ready both mentally and physically and you understand the risk and willing to except them then go for it.

p.s. if one or both of the people getting married are virgins sex that night is going to suck. If one or both of you don't know what the heck you are doing it's not going to end good.

is it? meh i was only comparing the main goal of the threads. this is about the topic 'sex education' and how it "should be necessary", not how some-one "learnt about sex".

but i guess there would of been a conversation like this that spawned in the other thread. so whatever....

All I know is, seeing a sketch of a dick on an overhead isn't my idea of a good time.

Hm..well I don't have sex ed this year, but my friends said they had to watch a woman give birth *video, of course.* I know that had to be painful..but still, yours is just..ew..

probably better if the kids know it while they are younger, before they learn and experience it from friends or the corrupt media.
