it was not americanized actually, more likely trade-wise. but it's not wrong to say it either coz, since it was 'bombed' in world war II, japan has been a great ally to america or should i say, best friend...probably inorder to 'save' their country economicly n it's 'safety'. but i guess that wont prevent anything for them to keep on their tradition which today had bring large influence to american ppl, anime, starwars, ninja turtles ect at the same time, keep moving with glabalisation. it was like a trade...but also at the same time, many american stuff being japanized in japan such as valantine day.
as for japanese artist, i think they do not americanized, but only injecting their music with something from america to make something different in their product. using english in theri song doesnt mean they were americanized but infact help them learning english, little by little.
i kinda agree with purple_micky about making 'others' ours. they import it, add a little 'spice' and export it as something fresh.
and it's tru that when they sing english songs, they can sell it worldwide.
personally, i think many american who love anime or japanese stuff today is like, a man tricked by his own friend who use the same trick he does. the different is, his friend do it better!

i don't think you mean "americanized" but "westernized". anyways, yes everyone is becoming westernized and it's b/c they have dominated both in the military and in economics. what's popular is always what's in power.

lol i think japanese artists are pretty different from everybody else. the style that they where their clothing is pretty different and definitely the hairstyles when they do a concert or like a mv or even when they walk the streets. totally different then in the us for sure. o.o trust me it's totally different.

i think the only americanized thing in japanese music is obviously hip-hop.duh. and those rock bands with rappers but those are way better than american bands who try to do the same. that and of course artists like Koda Kumi, Namie Amuro, Anna Tsuchiya and other artist who act a lot more like american artist such as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears when they perform now.

However japanese music also has Johnny's boy bands which would NEVER make it big in america and little girls groups like Berryz Koubou and Morning Musume. if the typical american watched these groups perform they'd probably throw rocks and stuff lol. Johnny's groups would definitely be called gay cuz even though i like them, you gotta admit they move like girls when they perform.

so yea. theres a VERY distinct difference between japanese and american music. plus a lot of japanese songs have like techno~ish background beats too. wow that was long.

Edit: cant forget about visual kei. thats big in japan but in america they'd be called freaks like marilyn manson or something haha.
