America's cartoon industry is plain sad.
If you compare the quality jump from the time of those cartoons to today's you notice the plot, artwork, voice acting, and general design haven't risen to much at all.

You can easily see how far Japan has advanced just from looking at some of the animes on this site.

I mean it's not really the lack of American ingenuity, it's the fundies (Fundamentalist) and FCC that force cartoons to keep kids in this country total retards. Concepts of love, sex, violence, drugs, religion, etc all get put into the void so that kids when put in the real world have no schemas ready to deal with them.

If you need an example of what the Americanization of cartoons means, look the 4Kids version of One Piece and compare it to the Original.

P.S. I see light for the industry for though. The new series "Avatar" seems a step up from the norm of cartoon plot lines. Even the producers claim direct inspiration from Japan and admit having an agenda to elevate the status of "Cartoons"
