currently I am almost at a dead tie but, i must say Marvel has produced more interesting villains and overall the story lines somehow better suit my taste. not saying DC hasn't influenced me but, marvel has shown me more of what i need and like.
ALSO IF YOU WISH you can post pics of your favorite characters. along with your explanation.

I wonder how many people have actually read DC comics and read Marvel comics and compared the two to each other and then let it swirl around in their head and then formed their opinions?
I'm gonna say that it's probably a very low number.

I colect comics so I know what I am talking aboutwhen i say tat marvel takes the lead(although i like DC because that dont make so many expensive variet covers)

I quit reading western comics many years ago, though I'd be inclined to give DC the edge just because I enjoy Vertigo comics, particularly Niel Gaimen's "Sandman.".

For some odd reason, super heroes rarely appeal to me at all anymore. I worshiped X-Men back in junior high, but now about all I do is catch the new movie versions, though I still haven't gotten around to seeing Fantastic Four yet.

I have been hearing obscenely good things about Civil War though. Has it hit trade paperbacks yet? I might actually pick that up when it does.

I, too, enjoy Vertigo comics, both for Sandman, and for Alan Moore's work (especially Watchmen). I also like Batman (esp. The Dark Knight Returns, but then, who doesn't?), mostly because he is a super hero without any super powers, which I have always thought is quite cool. I also like Dark horse comics, mostly for the sheer brilliance of Usagi Yojimbo, and the lovely art of Blade of the Immortal (which, I suppose, is technically a manga). I have also read and enjoyed a number of titles from Slave Labor Graphics.

I never really read comics when I was a kid, because my parents were opposed to them, but in the last several years, I have been playing a bit of catch-up, so to speak. I generally tend to gravitate towards the independent publishers, or at least the less conventional ones.

I wonder how many people can differentiate the Marvel and DC superheroes and villains...to me it's pretty much a tie

I only had a few short years (about 5th to 7th grade, and then mainly spiderman and batman) when I could read comics before my (then) psycho christian mother snapped and cut me off and me trash my small collection. Apparently, they were satanic. Fast Forward several years to when the first X-Men movie came out on DVD. My mother has since realized that there is nothing wrong with video games, dungeons and dragons, and comics. So she watches the X-Men movie and says to me, "Wow that was really good... why didn't you ever read X-Men comics when you were younger?"

I was speechless.

Personally, I've read more marvel, so I suppose I'll go with them. But yea, that was back in the days before highschool, and I don't really know much of whats going on now. Fav chars, spiderman #1, silver surfer, wolverine, some batman and superman.

If i were to pick them up again, I'd probably go more graphic novel with stuff like sandman, 300, etc.

In 97 when they came together to make a series to battle superheroes vs. one another who won? Thats right...Marvel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_vs._DC
