Fahrenheit 451 is a book, yes (although it's also been adapted as a movie). It was written by Ray Bradbury in the mid-1900's.

Actually, I didn't know very much about it either. I had to look up the author and the year it was published. :p

Anyway. Although I don't know much about the book, I somehow caught on to the reference anyway.

I also found a similarity between the books when the anime started, well more like it reminded me of that book because as it has been point it out it doesn't have the same development or plot and I would look at it more like a prequel then a sequel since they are trying to prevent such a future where the goverment destroys and forbidens books.

If the population starts to see the burning of books as something that they can't go against and start to not care then the children won't now the jow of reading a book, so then they won't care for the books since they don't know of them, thus comes the world and society that is pictured in Farenheit 451. [One of the parts that I remember more of it

And it's true it could be that the "Book of Prophecy" was Farenheit 451, you got very good eyes.

As far as literature goes, it's closest relative outside of the light novel series that the anime is directly adapted from would be Fahrenheit 451, but honestly, the thing it's closest to in media is the movie Equilibrium (which has also been compared to Fahrenheit 451).
