I thought it was going to be one of those overrated dramas everyone seems to love for the hot actors, but it's actually a really good drama, and very well casted.
Mizushima Hiro is a bonus. |

The series has improved a lot the last couple of episodes. What do you think of Night's developing personality? As for an anime, I would love it if they made one that was true to the manga. I hope that this series is popular enough in Japan that it will lead to an anime. I just watched episodes 8 and 9 recently. The drama is getting interesting that's true but with only a few episodes left it felt like things are being rushed somehow. Well, that's what I feel. I like how Night is developing human personality, thanks to his interaction with different people in the series and he's going beyond his programming. I know it seems like I'm beating a dead horse when I say again that the drama has gone way off the core of the manga's story. Gomen, I can't help it. I just feel sorry for Night to be tragically treated that way. First few episodes, he was a comic relief, now he is made into an unrequited lover with a broken heart. =( What's up with that? On a positive note, I like how the other characters in the drama (ex. Soshi and Mika) are learning from Night in terms of human relationship and feelings. It's ironic, the robot is not human yet humans learn humanity from him. Now that's what I call tragic and sweet. And judging from how this series is progressing I am expecting that Night will make the ultimate sacrifice to make the people around him happy. On another note, I think an anime version can remain true to the manga. All those scenes that are not possible to do in live action can be done in the anime. That would be awesome. *thumbs up* Just one more quick comment, as for the actors in this live drama, I have no problems with them. They are acting their parts really well. Of course, it's hard to connect our own image of the characters that we've read in the manga to this people in real life. It's very clever of the producers of this show to change the setting of this series and tweak the characters' personalities around, so they can have freedom to interpret the characters from the manga the way they see fit. Mokomichi's portrayal of Night Tenjo is really good. I mean c'mon let's give him credit for really acting like a robot/android. He's acting is not up to par with Brent Spiner's DATA from Star Trek, but I give him kudos for doing it well because his job is tougher than the other actors in this series. Compared to what he's trying to portray, really, they have it easy. |

I miss most of the jokes in the manga that don't exist in the drama. I liked all of their original characters. I've been enjoying the series more in the recent episodes because Night isn't as robotic with the way he moved and responded to things anymore. I will always miss the manga's storyline but the drama is still good yet nothing that I expected.

Yes! I thought the premise was bound to be cute and funny and it was exactly that. I haven't read the manga it's based on, but I think it works on its own. My only gripe is the endless baking scenes with Soshi and Riiko. For baking made fun and delicious watch My Name is Kim Sam Soon.
Other than that I can't complain, this is the first time I've been hooked and entertained for the entire run of a drama. |
