Who's rule is that? Your own? That's sad. At least, you should try to know who made that rule and why you follow it blindly.

Hmm... I guess without religion, the world will have no laws or morals. I mean, it is in religion where you'll find most things like "forgive and you shall be forgiven" and "do unto others what you want others to do to you". Basically, you can trace most laws found in any country's constitution to a religion. Without religion, I guess the world wouldn't be as it is right now. Besides, without a God to fear, what's stopping you to do anything you wish like hurting someone or stealing things?

(correct me if I'm wrong) -_-

This says more about your own personality, then about that of others. I don't believe in a god. But I don't hurt people or steal their things. Religion doesn't make people 'good'. You're pretty messed up if you really believe that.
Besides, religion has cost a lot of people their lives. I'm not only talking about the taliban, but also about crusades, and the thing that's happening between protestants and catholics in Ireland.
Those people are religious, yet, they hurt people. And it's because of their religion.

And, like someone said before, a god who uses fear to make his people obey him, is an evil god. If he really exists, he's evil anyway. Because good people who live their lives in a very good way, but who don't believe in god, will go to hell. While I know christians who are real assholes, but will still go to heaven because they believe in god. This is unfair. I'd also like you to think about this: You're a christian, so you believe in your god. Muslims believe in their god. Now, if one side is right, than the followers of the 'wrong' god, will automatically go to hell. How fair is that?
The god you believe in, is so flawed I could talk about if for hours.

A world without religion would be a better world. I think most people want to live their lifes right - I do. I want to be a person who is useful to others, I want to be nice etc. Most people do. It's not religion that makes people nice, if it was, then they'd only be faking their niceness in order to get to heaven.
Would you want to live in such a world?

Err... thank you?

I still don't get your point?

"I don't care" was meant to be taken in the sense that whatever you say won't affect my life...

Well it's hard for me to understand the concept of good and bad since I don't know how you view it. How do you say that something is good or bad without religion? (don't take this question offensively. I just want to know how you view those two without religion)

Well sure religion has cost the lives of many. But it's not caused by a whole nation thinking that their religion is the real one. It is caused by someone who believes that their religion is real and happens to be very influential or powerful. An example is Osama bin Laden whose Islamist movement has caused a war in the middle east. Because Islam can be manipulated so easily (no offense to Muslims, I'm saying this just as what my Theology professor told us) some people tend to use it for the needs and wants. So, religion is used as an excuse for waging war or abusing someone. It's like using a country's economic status for war, it's no different.

About the God-fearing disciple thing. As I said before, (in my religion) God is merciful and forgiving but he can still punish those who take his mercy and forgiveness for granted. Also, about the "believe in our religion and go to heaven, believe in other religion and go to hell" thing, it's what those hardcore worshipers think. In truth, we all worship one God, just in many ways.

Sure religious people want to go to heaven and maybe that's why they do nice things. But as I recall in my Theology class, one that does nice things to people but does it without the right intentions would suffer but those that do help with the right intentions (either be for love or just for the sake of helping) will reach heaven.

It's those very influential hardcore religious people that made religion looked bad to some people. I've seen hand-outs about Christianity. It was a series of comics that abolishes Islam and the other religions. Kinda annoying to see such a thing.

Religion for me just seems like an extremely widespread discipline movement. I personally believe there's a being out there who's above us all, but I don't want to think that the creation of all life on Earth actually had a story relating to humans dominating the planet. There are some parts of religion I really can't comprehend. The whole "religion is a mystery" thing isn't doing it for me.

It's true that stuff like that exist and religion is, of course, not all bad. But it can cause things like this just with it's existence, and I don't think that's a good thing.

Do you believe in what others say? "There is a part of the brain specifically for religious thinking."

I don't believe that part either, about Humans dominating over all the other life forms on Earth. I blame that little fact to the cause of pollution and illegal logging. It would mean that if we start caring for the environment than we would be going against what God wanted us to do, to dominate everything. This is why I don't know how to categorize myself into: an Atheist or a Believer?

Sabekuji:

I fully appreciate your point of view on this topic and the explanations (finally! ). Religion is quite a sensitive topic; it involves one's whole belief system and with it, his own personality too. I, myself, am Atheist (some might consider being Atheist as an religion too!!!) but was raised as a Protestant.

To resume your first statement, you referred religion as guidelines and directives and you also noted the fundamentals of religion on laws and constitutions for countries. With this in mind, two questions for you: Religion = Mass control? And whom does it profit?
