Amuro Ray was even whinier than Kira. I don't understand the hate that Destiny gets; finally, we get a pilot that doesn't need Prozac. That reason alone rockets Destiny up the middle of the rankings.

I probably can guess why people liked Amuro more so than Kira, it is most likely the fact that Amuro Ray is more dynamic as a protagonist compare to Kira.

Kira - whine, whine some more, mans up, makes a decision, and later becomes a linear character in Destiny

Amuro - whine, whine some more, gets cocky, BRIGHT SLAP, mans up, makes a decision, and later gets an uncertain death from saving the world

Since I don't have anything else better to do at the moment, I guess I can answer your next question...

Reasons as to why Destiny is hated to the extreme

-At the beginning Shin Asuka was a interesting character due to the fact that he had; a goal, his family was brutally killed, and hotblooded personality in him. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason the role of the protagonist was switch to Kira for either of the following reasons; pressure from Kira fanboys/fangirls, Fukuda/his Wife loved Kira too much, Sunrise, or just because... When that happen Shin's character completely gets butchered from a somewhat likable character to a character that becomes a person with sister complex that bitches too much and later transform into a lapdog to the Chairman of Z.A.F.T.. Shin Asuka is (was) the modernization of Kamille Biden, in a sense Shin is suppose to surpass Kamille, however not only the director failed the task he made hundreds of viewers hate Shin's guts.

-The @!$% skills of Kira Yamato (or what other people refer Destiny Kira as Jesus Yamato). For a person who didn't used his suit for 2 years, normally you would think the person will become rusty, but for some strange reason Kira becomes a God when he pilots his suit again . While the newer generation of pilots don't know anything about Kira Yamato's fighting style, you would think that most pilots pick up Kira's not aiming at the cockpit fighting style after the first 2-3 battles (and yet they don't). Until finally Rey notices Kira's piloting style and teaches Shin to beat him, the sad thing is by the time Rey found out the series was already more than half than. There is one more thing about Kira's skills that ticks people off, that would be his almighty beam spamming that shoots in a straight line that magically realigns itself into tens of other mobile suits' arms, legs, heads, and weapons. While we all know Freedom/Strike Freedom is an extremely advance suit in Cosmic Era, that shouldn't be an excuse for all grunts to not being able to doge them (the ones that's near the beam spamming I can understand, but the ones that are miles away from the beam spamming and still not being able to doge is ridiculous). Face it, almost 90% of the time when Kira pops up, most (if not all) other opposing pilots loses all sense of common sense and becomes mindless idiots.

-Athrun was definitely my favourite character in Seed, but my God when Destiny pop up his character became totally nerfed. Athrun is pretty much the character that pisses you off by going back in forth and doesn't stick with a side until extremely late in the series. Other than there's nothing more to complain about him because there's NOTHING too write about other than that.

-Stella, like Shin was also suppose to be a modernization of a character from Zeta (Four). What we got was just a lunatic girl that barely has any lines other than the main ones like "Shin" or "I don't want to die!". Personally I thought her death wasn't really sappy at all. Stella goes berserk in the Destroyer Gundam > dies by the hands of Kira > Shin holding her on his arms crying > later decides revenge on the Freedom <--- Here's another good reason why people hated Shin because even though Stella was special to Shin and she wasn't in control of herself, she had to be stop or everyone in Berlin would of gotten raped, but Shin blindly decides to get his revenge on Freedom instead.

-The flashbacks of the Cagalli's old man being burned up. You have to be insane to not think this was utmost waste of potential good frames and waste of time.

- While I don't agree with this one, however there are some individuals out there that thinks Lacus Clyne was an annoying character that is essentially a Japanese Mary Sue character meaning she's a really dull linear character by acting too perfect

-The stock footage of the final battle in Destiny. When it was suppose to be the Strike Freedom dodging and shooting the Legend's DRAGOONs, in reality its the Freedom dodging and shooting the Providence's DRAGOONs

I'm going to stop here because seriously the list can go on, but the points I provided for you are already good enough considering there the main points as to why hundreds of people hate Destiny (not Seed)
