i don't think it makes a difference if you're male or female when it comes to driving.

unless you're a soccer mom. then all bets are off and i'm heading far as i can from the parking lot.

No difference. If you can drive, you drive. If you can't, sorry bout your damn luck.

Anyone who thinks women cannot drive should Google just one name:

Michele Mouton.

And then try to imagine you'd have to do what she did.

Here is Michele

I don't honk at people,

Because I don't have a horn.

Usually when people cut me off, I usually speed up to cut them off then match speed with another car. So they can't pass. I can be quite the dick when I drive.

There are a lot of people around who *think* they are good drivers. Very few people *know*.

Most of us will, in time, find out that they're not quite as brilliant as once thought.

In general, there are two ways to find out if you're possibly any good. The first one is to sign into a real racing /rallying instruction course and try to end up in the top of your class. This tends to cost big buck$$ though.

The other way is to go the virtual route and get a GPLRank. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPLRank)

So far, this is the most popular ranking system for Internet racers of racing simulators - *hardcore* simulators that is, aimed at simulating real and difficult to drive cars, not the easy-going "Need for Speed" or "GTA" arcade type stuff.
In general, GPLRank and related speed rankings are a cheap way to find out if you're actually any good. As for costs, just about any old PC will do.

When you get a GPLRank you have to get "under par" as it were (like in golf).

"Par" is average, but for most people, getting 'under par' or 'negative' you will find this is very very hard.
If you're 'positive', as in +20 or higher, I'd think twice about getting in a real racing car or even driving a sports car at speed.

Once you're 'negative' and getting down to about -20 or so, you can consider yourself a decent sim driver at least, may start winning Internet races due to your getting good laptimes, and then can also start thinking you may be good enough to drive *real* sports or racing cars. Some people did, and turned out to be among the best in real life as well.

(Edit: And oh yeah, there are some women who have deeply negative GPLRanks. These girls are *fast*, and most men would not be able to keep up with them for just one lap.)

I don't drive yet, but I plan to! I may even take up automotive repair as a hobby so I don't have to pay mechanics to fix my car (I do the same with computers, so I don't have to pay technicians to fix my computer). I also once thought of joining NASCAR, and I do still think it'd be cool.

How good are women as drivers? It doesn't have anything to do with gender, but simply how one observes the rules of safety while driving. I've had both male and female drivers nearly run me over while I was crossing the street, because they couldn't wait two seconds to get to wherever the hell they were going. About 88% of the time, the person decides he/she wants to turn just as I'm about to stick my foot out to cross.
