Anything rap? Wtf have you been smoking? If you knew anything about rap, you'd know what's really good like 2pac, Notorious B.I.G, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Tonedeff, Big L, Immortal Technique, Eminem, Nas and so many more. Don't say "anything rap" when there's a huge difference between commercial rappers (sell outs) and REAL rappers. Akon, 50 Cent, Lil' Wayne and all those corny asses can go stick a pinecone up their ass.

Why can't people accept that not everyone is going to have the same taste in music?

It's not even to the point where it's the same taste in music. It's just pure hate on a genre of music without even considering the goodness of it but only the worst parts. These music critics judge a music genre without listening to the good stuff. I've had my share of listening to country music like Garth Brooks and LeAnn Rimes (even heavy metal with Metallica, Slipknot and Korn with a backward r) and they weren't that bad but to solely diss a genre of music without hearing the legends of it is just disgracing it. I haven't seen TWO freakin' people stick up for rap. NOT TWO. So you know what? I don't mind being one of the very few people to stick up for a genre of music that I adore. Yes, rap is good but people are belittling it's worth so it's better if it's one voice than no voice at all.

Well, I don't mind being insulted for my view if you stick up for yours.
I have heard some of the artists you listed above as "good", but I don't really like them. At all-cough. So yeah, people are still not going to have the same taste in music but like whatever. I really dislike rap, but there are [obviously] people who like it. It's just not my... style [or lack thereof].
Ahhh oh well. What're we doing to do about all the terrible things that people say about different genres of music? Nothing, since there's not much to be done. Just stick up for what you think is cool. That's awesome.

Hmm true. Everyone has their own style but I just hate people putting down rap like that. When people haven't heard the brilliant minds (in my perspective) of these lyricists and they just criticize it like that, it's like making fun of your favorite band without knowing their potential (favorite band or singer. whatever). It's demeaning and that agitates me since no one knows how good rap used to be cause of all these garbage ass, getting hos and cars crap, commercialized rappers. I know I'm a bit overzealous about this topic and that's because you might be just straight up dissing my future. But writing rhymes is my passion and to degrade these genius minds is a straight up slap in the face (with a trout). You're right though. Everyone has their own style, their own rhythm, their own life.

kirbysan, its funny that you would protect one aspect of rap and toss another away. commercialized rap isn't garbage and some rappers you mentioned know what's up (50 for example) there was a reason his mixtapes blew up and caught the attention of media bigwigs

commercialized rap is ghetto feel good music and needs to be respected. think about it, you're in the ghetto with no money, no opportunities and in most cases no future. seeing and listening to men who came from the same place rap about success (money, bling, girls) is something that’s going to lift your spirit

i'm tired of all these "underground" rap dudes throwing it away. if you loved the genre so much you'd take the time to understand it

"rap used to be"? I love old-style rap, like, back in tha day, or reggae.
But yes, I see your point of how people shouldn't criticize a genre because of the stereotypical parts of it.

you rhyme? wow, that's pretty sweet. I couldn't rhyme to save the life of me. that might influence the way I think of rap... lol.

The only good type of rap that there ever will be (since this world's filled with commercial rappers) is old school rap. I've never got slapped in the face by a trout but I'm just saying it'll probably feel wet, cold and dirty. I think rhyming's a good hobby since it helps me use my expanded vocabulary in sentences. Try it some time. If you start at the beginning of something, you could only get better.

Feel good music? More like fuckin' sell outs. They degrade women, degrade the rap game and degrade themselves as rappers in the game. I don't know wtf you're talking about but no matter what, I'd stride to make my rhymes better until I'd make some bread like that. I'm not a huge underground fan as I am an old school fan. My opinion stays no matter what since rap is about the game, not the money.

actually rap is about life, ever since the toasters at bloc parties, they'd just say what it was like growing up in jamaica and just general lifestyle observations

sell outs? big l rapped about "bitches" and money and success, hell he even tagged himself with flamboyant. how much money did he make?

the wu empire has grossed huge amounts of money and yet why are they not sell outs?

the sexual degrading of women exists in rap but it isn't rap which made them this way, its a macho bred lifestyle in which they grew up, there is actually a very good documentary on it. behind the beats i believe its called

i suggest you check it out
