I wasn't mocking anyone I just asked a question

I don't feel like reading this so you can if you want
http://www.allaboutscience.org/darwins-theory-of-evolution.htm

But if one were to say the first 2 cells on the planet were names adam and eve... well then.

Are you attempting to mock me? No, I don't believe in Santa. I believe that a St. Nicholas, at one point in time, did exist...but I do not believe that a jolly old fat man on a sleigh piloted by reindeer travels around the world every Christmas eve delivering presents. No, I haven't believe in Santa since I was 5, when my brother thought it would be funny to ruin the magic of Christmas for me.

And how is the theory of Adam and Eve most likely wrong? And I want you to back it up, not just state the point.

Im sorry I mean nearly impossible to prove because if they were the only ones around, only they can record there existence which they didnt.

On a sidenote, Christmas was actually based on a Pagan holiday from the Cult of Mithras.

You are correct in that regard. They didn't record their own existance. Moses was the one who wrote Genesis, but it was under the guidance of God, so...I suppose I can see why their existance is skeptical if you are not a Christian. Again, it's one of those faith issues. One cannot prove that they did or didn't exist.

Did god Try first on mars and screw up so decided to restart on earth but again he messed up with the dinosaurs? I guess the third time is the charm?

If your wondering about the Mars thing there was "life" on mars acording to fossils so I'm wondering did he mess up? And again I must say whats the deal with dinosaurs?
Does he control the WHOLE universe or just earth?

Deep indeed.

Alright, I've stayed up far later than I should have. With this, I will take my leave. Have a pleasant night, all.

Okay, one more point. Didn't see the post above mine.

"Does he control the WHOLE universe or just earth?" According to the Bible, God is the creator of all things. So, we believe that he controls the whole universe.

I'm a born-again Christian, through and through. I have been all my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I honestly cannot imagine how people can actually deny the existance of God, or some form of supernatural being. Look around you. Go to a park on an autumn evening when the sun's setting. Go hiking in the woods, and look at the pure beauty of nature. Such masterpieces like these exists...and you believe it to be by chance?

Or we could look at something slightly more complex. Like love, for example. Or emotional pain. Likes, dislikes, boredome. How were these things determined if they were not created by someone and put into place?

My brother shared with me an interesting comparison. Let's say there's a completely disassembled computer, every screw and part taken out, and the pieces are randomly placed around a room. Now, what is the chance that the computer is going to put itself together? Yet people are so quick to believe that the earth, something FAR more complex than a computer, was created by chance?

I'm not here to force my belief on anyone, nor am I here to criticize the beliefs of others. Let's face it, there is no true way to prove that God exists. Likewise, however, there is no true way to prove that He doesn't. It's all a matter of faith. I've seen too many miraculous things happen to both myself and those I care about to even begin to question the existance of Him.

Oh, and one more thing. I, too, am interested in reading about these false statements in the Bible, Haddon. (Oh, and how does having one of Adam's ribs make Eve his daughter? Does someone getting a kidney from another person make them related?)

it wasnt by chance. almost nothing on earth exists by chance. it exists due to the laws of nature.

why are polar bears white? to be camoflauged. why are there veins of tin in britain, but there werent nearly as many of iron? because of the chemical composition of the rocks that make up the earth. why does the sun create that reddish glow as it sets? because the light as our eyes perceive it is different from when it is at its height.

the only "chance" that there is on earth is where it is located in the solar system, and the fact that life started on it. however, it is almost impossible that there is not life elsewhere that started exactly the same way. how it began, i dont know. but nobody does.

and as a born again christian (i always found that name ironic, as being born again implies that at one point you were without life, and rebirthed), answer me a few things:
1. where did the idea of jesus as your savior come from?
2. where did the idea of yaweh, your god, come from?
3. where did the idea of the final judgement come from?
4. and how do you know that this is correct, not simply an easily created lie, like scientology most obviously is? i could create a religion, with an entire mythology and fake history in a day or two, if i cared to. whos to say the writers of the bible didnt?

and here are a few things for all christians to think about
is jesus god? the son of god? a man, sent by god? or simply a man who found god?
is the bible complete, or was some of it omitted?
what makes jesus different from abraham, buddha, zoroaster, muhammed or any other prophet or religious founder? why would he be correct, and they would be wrong?
why would a religion only 2000 years old be completely correct, when religions more than 3 times as old arent?
what does christianity give you that other religions dont give their followers?

i can tell you right now, christianity isnt complete. there are hundreds, if not thousands, of sects that believe in seperate things, but follow christ. which one is right? are any of them right?

and to answer your question, when i look around and see the serene beauty of the world, i dont think it is coincidence. i dont think it was created by a sentience, either. i think it was created by evolution, and by circumstance of the shifting earth.

and a few that all people should ask themselves:
is evolution real (most churches even agree today that it is real, but the debate is whether or not humans evolved)?
if any 1 religion is correct...why would they steal ideas from others (as all religions in history that we have record of have done)? and then why would they change them for their own views?
if god created man, then there wouldnt be fossils and genetic proof of evolution. but if men evolved from apes, why are there still apes (i can actually answer this one, but you should try to find out)

you all have me very wrong. i hate religion. i hate most religious people. but i dont hate them for their religion, i hate them because it blinds them. because the deny possibilities. they deny probabilities. and they deny fact (like evolution). THIS is what infuriates me.

I used to wonder the same thing. Then I realized that trying to solve the mysteries of the universe was WAY too much for me so I gave up and then went on with my life. Yes I am a christian, probably because my grandmother is extremely zealous and popped propoganda about other religions in my head. I never took her seriously though. The stuff she taught me about Christianity though was good though. I took it as her point of view of the bible rather than believing it. I also have been in Catholic School all my life, but I refuse to actually debate that Christianty is real because smarter people then me do that.I just stated facts about the bible and the great Flood story, but I didnt want to prove that Christianity is real. Its just my faith that it is.
