I really don't know if this is already a thread, but anyways....what do u look for in a novel? what types of plots, characters, themes, genres, etc? List examples

For me, i really like books with lots of background info and have characters that develope throughout the novel...i think series novels are really good b/c the more u know about the story/characters the more u get interested in the novel..ex. HP

I read almost anything even history books. But I tend to avoid mystery, western, horror, erotica. These just don't interest me the plots are usually weak in these stories.

I like long series-type books where you get to see the characters grow and anticipate what the ending will be like. The problem is finding all of the volumes...

I browse a lot. Go to bookstores find out about new books that have come out and/or look it up online.

I enjoy series, but I want a book to make me think. I don't want it just tell me a story, I want to it to have something else in the pages that make you question and wonder. Novels are, in fact, windows to other realities, other times not of our own. I'm not really a fan of "romance" novels or the usual mysteries. I like fiction but mostly the deep stories of love, loss, revenge, death, life, rage, truth, and deceit. I'm a big fan of Gothic and Romanticist novels.

The plot basically, I don't like bloody books or ones with /too/ much swearing in them. and if possible i'd like to stick to "relationships" kind of book LOL =3 of course i read adventure books too (e.g: Pendragon) but yeah...xD I normally read romance o-o; (typical girl?)

if it's a novel, i'd say a good plot, a well developped story and high in vocabulary.
if it's a book in general, it'd have to be a good-looking cover.
