I've got
SAmurai X ova Collection (Black Box ADV Release) + Samurai X Complete Collection (white Box ADV Release) + Samurai X (Aniplex Release) + Rurouni Kenshin Complete TV series (Media Blasters Release).= (Priceless)
My admiration for this masterpiece makes me buy the same thing 3 times but I don't Care. I think Is Getting Pricier.

Also I Spend Close to $400 on all the full Metal Alchemist Series. Season 1, Seaon 2, OVA colection, Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Part 1, Brotherhood Part 2, OVA Collection, Movie: Sacred Star Of Milos
Looking at this wall right now that started in 2003 I think is worth......$7750. What?! I could Buy a Car right now

For my anime collection it would be the Castle in the Sky blu-ray.....I think.....I don't buy anime very often

With my manga collection I've definitely spent the most on collecting the Negima! series(so far up to vol. 32).

For a single set, it would be the Fate/Zero Box sets. Overall.....uh...about $2000 in models/figures. Anime....at we'll say....40 dollars a box set...plus about....what 90 different boxsets? That makes about 3600....(that's if everyone of my sets was 40 bucks...and some where totally not...)

So...Plus or minus 8000 grand in anime stuffs. (to include items like t-shirts, posters/wall scrolls, towels, and blankets)

My anime collection reached about $10,000 back during my college days. I haven't counted it recently, like in the last 8 or so years. But I stopped buying anime completely about 5 years ago. The last thing I bought was Kanon 2006. Crunchyroll is now the only way I support the English localization communijty.

Probably my complete Sailor Moon collection is my most expensive. I have all the old fansubs on tape which cost about $800 and then I bought it on DVD as it became available which is an additional $80 per season up until the 5th which was never released. So a grand total of about $1100.

My most prize possesion is my Bilingual Cardcaptor Sakura which was made for students of English in Japan. It has both the Japanese and English dialog throughout the set.

The first thing I ever bought was Clash of the Bionoids which was an effort to bring Macross to the US despite Streamline Pictures/Harmony Gold owning the rights to it (which they kept after a lengthy lawsuit and still hold today). It was called Clash of the Bionoids in an attempt to circumnavigate the ban on all things Macross being brought over to the US. I bought that around 1990.

Going by specific titles/skus, I would say Clannad/After Story and Rurouni Kenshin + OVA's were my most expensive investment that I dropped money on all at once.

I am currently collecting all the Shippuden box sets and Bleach box sets, which ultimately has cost me the most cumulatively. I don't have much for anime figures, mostly video game ones, such as the Ninja Gaiden 13" statue that I bought for $40, and is now selling for upwards of $400.

for an individual set - madoka, i have the BD collectors of all three at 90 CaD a pop, being 270ish.
i paid 20 bucks an episode for that garbage.

my sister spent 400 on the complete series of cardcaptor sakura and around 550 for all of sailor moon except for sailor stars.

(i've still spent more on anime than her by far, though.)

I have never paid more than 50 GBP for a boxset.
If I added up all the reasonably priced collections though it would come to quite a lot.

I've been collecting anime and game PVC figurines since April last year. Presently I have 208 non-duplicate figurines downstairs awaiting display racks and space, 92 figurines lined up on pre-order, 146 wished that are either out-of-print or still in a dream state with the sculptor. In USD dollars the PVC figurine totals run very low 5 figures (pssst, don't tell my wife).

The most expensive BD anime set I have is Accel World imported straight from Japan via Amazon.co.jp and DHL. I believe this anime will never be made for US consumption but I could be wrong. It does have English subtitles. Including shipping EMS this set averages $33/episode. Presently there are 7 volumes (3 episodes per disc) released with Volume 8 coming sometime early March.

The only other set I have presently that cost 400 dollars was the 2011 Aniplex release of Garden of Sinners on BD. I also have on pre-order via Amazon.co.jp Gurren Laggan BD set to be available and mailed in July, 2013 (@46 015 yen). The yen has fallen considerably in the last few weeks. Whether the US dollar holds up past summer at this exchange advantage remains to be seen. I have 300 titles in anime and am converting over to BD if I really like the series. It's not my aim to be the biggest or the baddest. I'm just fortunate enough to be healthy at my age so what money I can spare goes to Japan and not BigPharma or the IRS.

I import music CDs. With the lousy exchange rate that gets expensive REAL quick. I think the most I ever paid was for a Sakura Wars CD collection. That was like--$270 or something all at once. DVD wise, probably Cardcaptor Sakura. I bought those as they came out and I didn't know about Right Stuf back then so I paid close to full price when I bought those. I will be paying more than $200 again to get a K-On CD collection soon. Heaven help me if I ever go insane and buy Japanese Blu/DVD releases. Importing music CDs is enough pain to the credit card--and that's not including all the domestic DVDs, manga, books, and Blu Rays that I buy. There are times where I ask myself, "WHY did you have to have such an expensive hobby?" Yet, I wouldn't have it any other way.
