LOL using stress as an excuse is a weak reason to fail an exam especially if you have done well if i were a teacher this is what i would think:

1. This person cant handle stress and wont be able to do well while in the work force.
2. There is a possibility that he/she cheated on previous exams.

reasons:
1. if someone cant handle the pressure of something minor like an exam, or at least i think so, then they most likely wont be able to handle stress from work especially when assigned important tasks which can have a major impact on your life (i.e getting fired/promoted).

2. if someone has done relatively well throughout their four years of high school, then i see no reason for that person to fail the final exam because an exam is an exam and they are all the important so the pressure should stay the same. so i would think that someone who's done well on past exam would do the same on the finals so theres definitely be something fishy there. although there could be various reasons such as private affairs that i could know nothing about, i would find it weird and question their past performance in school

This. If there's anything about the education in America, or Western education in general, it's that it's far too lax. Sure, hard workers can gain achievements throughout most of their lives, but if a little stress (like an exam, which really isn't anything at all) can topple you, you don't deserve any of those achievements. There are some things you can get in life just by studying studiously all day and following directions, but being unable to cope with stress is pretty much failing at a very important part of life. It doesn't matter if you can get straight As or excel at placement tests. If you can't bring out the same kind of performance under pressure, just give up. Working to keep your job in a capitalist economy is much more taxing on the psyche and much heavier as far as stress goes than a measly placement exam. Being able to excel in such a way, shouldn't a person attain absolute confidence in their abilities? With so much knowledge and experience, I see no reason any exam within the bounds of reason to be of any challenge.
People really need to realize that the things that will ALWAYS pull you through more than anything else in this world are ability and experience. Petty things like grades and awards pale in comparison to the real aptitude exams that life has to offer.
