Education is corrupt in America, atleast in public schools it is.

So? What can we do about it? Why are we just sitting here and ranting? We should complain to the people in charge. To people who can complain to even bigger people in charge. Complain to your school heads, complain to the government, complain to the news. It may be too late for us, since we're almost completely done with our high school education, and are moving onto college, but it could change for the future generations.

Complaining to the local Gov't about a problem in most regions of the US
is like ordering a deaf mute with one leg to complete a marathon

Perfect reason WHY we shouldn't let our government take control of our health care system. Everything they touch I swear, gets fucked up.You can't get shit done with them either.

The only reason I'm in a catholic school is that all public schools in my area suck and are not getting better. (I'm not catholic btw) Even the charater schools in my area are failing which is why I posted this thread. To those people who think the choice is a prissy priveledge, I want you to look at the average test scores in the USA compared with other countries. Why do you think the American stereotype is fat and stupid? (the former being a matter more of public health and less of education).

^Well actually, the fat thing does have, at least a little, to do with education
when people eat from places like McDonalds, they don't really know what they are scarfing down into their systems, and if you look around ANY fast food joint, you will not find that info anywhere

You guys seem to have a dim outlook on public schools. I think it has it's advantages. My school is more diverse than the majority of the private schools around put together, we've got an active student body, lots of club activities, and most of the teachers are really good too. Not to mention we've got more language/art/music/elective courses than most of the private schools around here.

I go to a private school; our education is pretty advanced compared to other schools around our neighborhood... But, I still feel that some of my classmates lag behind. Frankly, I think the people in my class who are behind are just lazy. I know that they can focus and become intelligent but, ... they don't want to do the work! They'll come up to me in the morning and ask me for homework. Like hell I'd give it to them.

Uh, yeah. Basically, I think that it's because the teachers don't really encourage their students to do their homework at some schools. One of my friends go to a different school. A public one, no less, and she says that her teachers will tell them that they were getting stupider everyday. I was like, "wtf?" Though, I do think that the students have to do something with this too. If they don't know the basics [multiplication, what a verb is, how sounds moves, basic algebra, etc...], how the heck are they supposed to advance?
It's that, and also some kids just don't care. Like I pointed out earlier, laziness. Technology like computers/internet, iPods, and cellphones sometime.. most of the time, distract my friends from doing homework.. actually, it'll stop them from anything. A few of my friends even lack sleep.

I don't know. I don't particularly think that it's all of the school's fault. It might be a little, but it's seriously up the the students. If they're motivated, then I think that they'll do well despite what their teachers say or the lack of education the school gives. They can go to the library and look things up.

Uh, in a school. And my father, he was, uh, from the United States. Just like you, ya know? He was a Yankee. Uh, he used to take me a lot to the movies. I learn. I watch the guys like Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney. They, they teach me to talk. I like those guys. I always know one day I'm comin' here, United States.
