get a hyundai or a toyota they are usually good for the price range. Just don't get a mazda or a mitsubishi they break after like 10,000 miles

It's because they treat their cars like shit. With proper maintenance any car can last longer than 10k.

lol not a mazda or a mitsubish

Which would explain why my Mazda has 150,000 miles on it and is still running....

Not nearly as close to yours but I've only gotten 119k+ miles on mines and its a 20 yrs old car too ^_^

Aha mines a 97 Mazda 626.
And I'm going to rebuild the engine soon, if I have the money for the rebuild kit.

SIKE!

You still haven't answered what kind of car you're looking for. It's hard to just suggest a car when you don't give us a criteria to base it on.

Since there is no criteria, you should get a Honda Odyssey.

You don't need an Evo. If your parents were smart they would not get you a high performance car for your first car. Because you as a noob driver will do some stupid stuff and might endanger yourself and other drivers. I suggest you get something practical and good on gas like a Civic, or a Corolla. Then once you're more mature and your driving skills have gone up, then go for performance.

I want to buy an RX7 or Toyota MR2. What is their to look for when buying one on a budget of $1000+? And taking into account the insurance, gas mileage, or repair (if needed)?

as for a rx7 heres two link on what to look
http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/buy1.htm - N/A
http://www.aaroncake.net/RX-7/buy2.htm - Turbo

Since most of this cars are 20 yrs+ expect to do a rebuild on them unless they show paper work. If your lucky you can find one thats cheap and still running until due for a rebuild.

HAHAHA here I am trying to find information about RX 7 online...thanks! What is a GTU rx 7? I know that it has to do with body style and options, but I am not fully understanding it.
