I think people are saying that it drags coz they watch it for the sole purpose of romance. What I really like about his drama is that it is not a typical taiwanese drama with overly dramatic scenes and unrealistic characters. The characters are not the basic black and white (evil and good) unlike some others (*cough* Devil beside you). Like gao, for instance. At first he seems to be zhi tian's rival with the cooking etc but then he's actually just normal (not really the antagonist). And gawd do I hate those present dramas where all the lead girls act too cutesy and top it with really, really, really annoying face expressions (*cough* ella, rainie)

At first, it was because of Vic Zhou. I haven't seen him in anything new since... Meteor Garden II, fact is, I haven't seen any of the JVKV band members in anything ever since that. I had moments where I drifted away from the the Asian fever a little. But then, the drama turned out to be enjoyable and fun to watch, it had a nice storyline; funny, sad, all rolled into one which makes it all the same. So, I just kept on watching it since I don't have any excuse to stop... Hahah

I think I watched Sweet Relationship when I was going through a phase of watching gourmet food dramas lol like Jdrama Lunch Queen, Smiling Pasta, Bambino etc. Delicious food plus a delicious looking cast, what could possibly go wrong!? I'm so glad I tuned into this drama, it was well worth the watch. It has a good soundtrack (love Alans voice), the acting was good (even from Patty), and it had a great script! To be absolutely honest, it was an all round crowd pleaser, I enjoyed every ep-it's one of those rare dramas that you could watch from beginning to end gaining complete satisfaction. For me, the ending is everything. It generally determines whether or not I could watch the drama a second time (more than once). There's a lot of dramas that start off great but then kinda loses it towards the end-not this drama though. I was left anticipating what was going to happen next with this drama.

The last time I saw Vic was in MARS, another favourite of mine! I really don't think you can compare both their characters though, because both are two very different dramas! And i've gotta say that Vic Zhou really knows how to choose his characters. I do think his character had more depth in MARS, but that was only because that's what his role demanded of him. Otherwise, I don't think I could pick which is the better drama out the two, because both Sweet Relationship and MARS are equally good in my opinion. It's deffo made it on my list of must watch dramas.

As for the pace of the story, I know a lot of people who found Sweet Relationship to be 'boring'-but I'll put that down to personal choice and individual taste. It did have a 'slow' pace, but I think it would be fair to say that, that's how the director intended for it to be. Their relationship wasn't meant to happen over night, but was meant to be seen as a gradual process. Sort of like the art of cooking, quality of food, prep, cooking time (a long process)-it's about having the right pace and the right timing, only then will you get to enjoy the food and appreciate it! Well that's the way I like to look at it, coz for me, it was deffo a drama with depth. I wouldn't have expected anything less from Iswak director Winnie-that's just the way he works! And for me that's deffo the best bit about this drama, the subtle romance and how the characters connected with food. For those of you who really are the hopeless romantic types, trust me, you won't be left disappointed with the final two eps! It really does make up for the 'lack of romance' waiting to happen throughout the drama.

lol apologies for the long essay, if anything, it just goes to show how much I enjoyed this dramas! Peace out and kudos for reading! X
