they're both gangsters. Joseph is the prodigy aka one man army, while Gerd is the lone wolf aka the lone soldier. I voted Joseph but they're both cool.

Joseph: Devoted to the Church and God, sleeps for about 50% of his air time. Always gets beat up and tries to save everyone.

Gerd: Famous Motorcycle Racer, Takes down the bad guys in style, Goes insane and kills his former girlfriend.

For the answer of who's the main character, definite not Joseph. He lacks presence the other characters like Gerd and Hermann have. Joseph may be one of the main character but he's far from the top; he just happens to be the one to defeat Xargin in the end and even then, it took Gerd, Hermann, and Isis for that to happen. As for who's cooler, definitely Gerd. He kicks ass the best with those twin swords of his; he also put up a much better fight against Xargin than Joseph and Hermann in the last ep (until Joseph's final form showed up).

well joseph for male candidate (herman is also cool to me, like the red hair but he couldnt calm down alot so nah.)
