it doen't really matter[for me] if it's a korean band, a japanese band, or an american band that's singing, as long as the music is good...i'm fine with anything...but i think i know[by heart and soul] more asian bands than american bands...

Asian bands are far better, to me at least. American bands are all about drunken parties and sex, and when they want to sound all bad they throw out a bunch of cuss words. That, and their vices are all so fake, I mean, listen to some popular American singers/bands live...they sound horrible. I was shocked the first time I heard a Japanese singer live, specifically because I used to be one of those "OMG TEH JONAS BRUTHERZ ARE HAWT"(e.g. I used to be one of those little kids that absolutely loved anything Disney came up with, I followed what others thought was popular) type of people. Then when I finally heard a what a REAL singer sounds like, I was just like "whoa...fuck this shit i'm movin' to japan!" Now, no matter what, even if I try, I can't seem to get myself back into the whole 'popular music' scene. In America, that is. Sooo in short as you can see, my biggest problem with American singers is that they're all so fake.

There's no such thing as better or worse music. Only music that you like or dislike.

Fake how so? I've heard asian bands that sound horrible live too. So don't try and lump ALL american music together because it's not all the same. and if you're talking about looks then plastic surgery is as rampant in asia as it is in america.

To be honest if I listen to anything aside from Lady GaGa or JoJo its a big surprise to everyone because 99% of the time I listen to Asian and only Asian.

I don't care for the style of American artists/groups. I don't care for the sound either.

Asian artists/groups ftw.

Some of you people have got to be joking - are you honestly basing your opinions off of Jonas Brothers, Lil Wayne and the Black Eyes Peas? Like, for real? Ever thought to listen to something slightly more.....classic?

Now, fangirls.
Say it-
Arashi is a better 'band' than Nirvana, Super Junior are far better than the Doors, SHINee are superior to the Ramones and KAT-TUN are more awesome than The Velvet Underground? FER REALZ?!

I don't listen to Asian music outside of K/J-Pop and K/J-Rock, so I ain't saying anything - but THINK! There are plenty of talented American artists who have superior skills to any Asian group. American bands don't just sing about sex, drugs and random shit - listen to stuff other than those 15 or so US artists you know and you might just realise that!

Korean pop, Japanese pop/punk/rock. American songs are okay. But like some people say, its all about sex and swearing now. You should see KevJumba's ridiculous lyrics. It features songs like Ke$ha. From Blahblahblah she goes like don't be a little bitch with your chitchat, just show me where your dicks at.

Sorry if there was some confusion... I didn't mean to lump ALL American bands together. I didn't mean plastic surgery either. I meant that in terms of live, I know a lot of vk bands that sound amazing live, compared to some American singers.(e.g. Jonas Brothers, Rihanna, Ke$ha etc.) Also, the way that you phrased "I've heard asian bands that sound horrible live too." sounded like you heard it from a friend or something, not not for yourself. Anyways, I hope that cleared stuff up.

Wow, looking at the replies, I have to say 98% of people who replied have very very very very little musical exposure...in both Western and Asian music. Seriously, American music all about sex, drugs etc? What?

Me? UK/US > Asian in general. The innovation, energy, thoughtfulness, art, passion and dedication poured into Western music in general, even in some mainstream music, are heads above most shiny, super packaged Asian pop band that is churned out on a regular basis. If you don't get what I'm taking about, then your musical exposure is amazingly limited. I'm guessing the demographics of this forum are girls/boys younger than 20, hopefully. I'm guessing some life experience and a stop to oggling effeminate boys from boybands will help some a lot.

Also, it's relative...
Lady Gaga > Most pop Asian pop stars in terms of musical talent and originality (musically, she isn't even that original). Sure, BoA might dance better (I do love watching her dance, though it doesn't give me the same goosebump of watching MJ dance, but that's an unfair comparison...), but when it comes to MUSIC, I prefer talent in playing the piano (which Lady Gaga can do very very well, if you care to know), singing (though some people don't like her voice, but she can sing) over being able to bust out moves (performance).

Do I listen to Asian music? Hell ya (I'm asian, but not Japanese, Korean or Chinese), mostly little Japanese rock bands people, even omgiloveasianmusictards don't listen to. I hate the term J-rock...just...ugh...we don't call American rock A-Rock do we? Or UK-rock...ROCK IS ROCK. *ahem* I will say I know a lot Asian bands better than stuff at Panic, Metro Station, other bands in that range, but no matter what, I still haven't found an Asian band/artist that outdoes Radiohead, Muse, Bjork, Jeff Buckley, Sigur Ros, etc (these are well know artists/band, not some tiny indie scene people). Not even going to talk about the Beatles, Rolling Stone, Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix and the like...it would be an unfair comparison.

And American/UK(plus others) indie rock--Asian music hasn't come close.

At the end of the day:

Classical >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Beatles >>> Everything else (this has a large dose of personal opinion, so take note)
