Well they're different so it's hard to compare... Well if we're comparing the american bands to the korean IDOL bands anyway

Don't discount brits from the mix, there are plenty of good western bands in general, just take a look at the classic rock genre...

Depends on the band

To be honest no.

But for the Asian bands, I really like their guitar sounds.

I think American bands are better. They make good Rock-songs, and the lyrics always make sense.

Korean bands (or boybands) seem to be good at dancing. AAAAUUGGGHH AND DOS DAM HOT GUYSSS PSLSSLPSLPSLSLSLLSSLP

Japanese bands sometimes don't make sense. ;-;

I am getting bored pretty soon when listening to american songs, it's just the same commercial sound over and over again. But asian music have something different and lyrics are much more better if you understand it.

I like music no matter where it comes from; though, I do prefer English music because I can understand it.

Haven't listened to enough Asian bands to make that comparison without it being severely skewed. So far, I've liked American bands more, but then again, I've listened to a substantially larger variety of them. Could maybeperhapspossibly have something to do with understanding English fluently, unlike multiple Asian languages. For me, music is at least partially about the lyrics too (excluding instrumentals, for obvious reasons), and while I do have some songs that I like despite understanding (close to) nothing of the lyrics, it still detracts from my enjoyment ever so slightly.

If I find out about more Asian bands with adequate English singing/good enough songs that I just don't care about the language barrier/*insert criteria here*, I might be able to do the comparison more objectively. Until then, no dice.

Korean - pop and Japanese - pop music is much better than the american pop music in my mind.

Though I prefer american Rock and Metal.

But my favorite type, just because is Electronica and Classical. Maybe a hint of Jazz to.

You, sir. You have it right! I would put Japanese bands above American 80's bands myself. But that is just me. You must have excellent taste.

You don't get stuff like Animal Collective, The Velvet Underground, or Talking Heads in Asia. I'm glad that people can find things that they enjoy, but what I have to say is that for music that is culturally significant, fresh and innovative, America's got a lot of variety.

Are we comparing "music bands" or just "music artists"? Well anyway it depends on the individual artist to be honest. These are two pretty big categories you are comparing here with all kinds of different musicians within it. I have found great and not so great music in both.

I think Asians listen more to American and British bands and Europeans listen more to KPOP and JPOP etc.

You can't compare two genres to say which is better. Lol what makes anything "American" or "Asian" music? That being said I live in the US but my favorite band is named Frost* and they are from the UK. As for Asian music, K-pop. SHINee is my JAMMMMMMMMM

I honestly couldn't care less where the music comes from. If it's shit, it's shit. That said, I can't stand 99.99% of Japanese/Korean music, because it all sounds so inaccurately executed, and shallow. By shallow I mean in instances such as heavy metal music, where they make it sound cheery. You know you missed the whole freaking point, hence shallow, when you make heavy metal music sound cheery. These types of people need to tumble into a very deep well and never be able to climb back up again, for sure.

As to which is better, both have their good bands. I have been more enjoying of the japanese and other asiatic band. Lots of killer guitarists over there. I think it is the energy that the j-music has that makes me like it more. It reminds me of classic eurobeat.
